I want to start draining our oil and transmission fluid buckets here at work and running the stuff through my diesel.
Anyone know of a compact pump and filter setup I can use?

Personally, I wouldn't risk a $1K+ IP by using that stuff, no matter how well filtered.

BTW...do you happen to know of a good filter and pump combo??? I know I could make one, but that woulld just be one more project on top of a giant heep.

rayco use to make a unit for that had two filters and a pump we used it in the shop i use to work at 60 8 oil changes made the fuel in a 10,000 gal tank gray . they couldn't tell if we were runing off road fuel or not so we had to stop using it. i think at the time both mack and cat had to problem with it. P.S. if your using it onroad there is a form to fill out and your suppose to pay taxes on it. yea right thats going to happen lol

atf is not meant to burn

Damn!! Those are nice. I suppose I should call and check prices...but I've got a feeling that they will make the project a little too expensive to be worth while. I may just try to rig something up myself.

Tractor Supply is your friend! They have all manner of fittings to mate to oil and fuel filters.

:flipoff2:

What engine do you want to run this in?

First, tell the naysayers to eat shit. Atf, motor oil, hydraulic oil, kerosene, jet fuel, etc will all burn when its compressed in a diesel engine.

Second, unless you want to spend alot of money, you are not going to get good filtration from any kinda 1 piece pump/filter.

You can start with something like this. Look aound, you can find them for 200 or less.

You can add filters to it like this. I'd stay away from the goldenrod stuff they sell at TS, etc. They sell stuff like this TS as well, its made for preasure, goldenrods are more for gravity feed. IMO you need more filtration than this.

You can never filter whatever you burn too much, how much you actually need to filter it is open for debate.

The easiest way to filter it down is using a centrifuge filter like this (http://www.biodieselbarn.com/DieselCraftCentrifuge.html).

I'm not worried about the know-it-alls who say it won't work. Trans fluid and motor oil will burn very well through many different direct injection diesel engines, and very poorly through indirect injection engines and a few of the direct injection engines.
Mine just happens to be one of the ones that burns it very well:D

I will actually call about the centrifugal filtration tomorrow....but in the meantime....

How many microns does the average oil filter go down to??

What about the average diesel fuel filter??

i happen to know a guy who runs USED atf from a trans shop in his cummins 12 valve all he does is put the atf in an aux tank in the back of his pickup and dump fuel on top of it. he mixes it 10 to 1 (10 parts fuel to 1 part atf)
he is also useing a goldenrod filter on the aux tank and the stock filter on the engine

Oil filters are around 30 mic, and have a built in bypass for when they get cloged up-lets dirty oil flow.

Fuel filters are usually 5-10 microns in diesel pickups, but you can get them from 2-40 microns.
