: Drive Shaft R&R

Tech post of the day.....


OK, I'm going to replace my rear drive shaft, can anyone give me pointers :confused:




Actually I installed the new shaft last night. Inspected the old shaft, what'd you know there is about 5-7 degrees of twist in the shaft. I'm so proud of my wife, she did a hell of a job twisting my shaft :D

Tip - don't change the driveshaft while parked on a hill without chocking the wheels or putting it in 4x4. :flipoff2:

Good thing she quit before she twisted it off!!

Bang it on a big rock to create a dent or dimple in the tube. Then find an area with good traction and gas the hell out of it. Sometimes you may still have to remove a small piece or two from the yokes at each end. Pick up the pieces and you are now ready to install the new d-shaft.
