I can get a good deal on one of these, why dont I see the all alum 4.6 in more buggy builds?

I think that would largely be the physical size of the mod motors... At the outside of the valve covers, they are wider than a 460.

It has been done before and can be done but like said above the size is the biggest down to them.

the new crate motors and longblocks make this a good engine choice, I am looking hard at then now too

If you're going for a used motor to drop in a project get one from a truck, way better pistons and rings than what they put in the CV's and GM's. There's a reason why you see CV's burning oil at the stoplight and not trucks.

usually that is from never changing your oil and the rings get stuck in the ringlands.

That and most GM/CV's tend to either have no miles and never see wot in their life, or are ex cop turned taxi machines with eleventy billion miles on them...

Get a motor from a lincoln, as they use the 4valve heads on the 4.6 and the 5.4
