Since I'm throwing in the 435 in my ranger, where it absolutely does not belong, I'm going to have to make a custom cross member. With that being said, what type of bushing can I use, or how can I bolt the tranny to the cross member with some sort of flexible set up?

The NP435 installs I am familiar with have the crossmember on the adaptor housing between the tranny and t/c. What is your setup?

I will look at the bottom of that adapter plate sometime soon and figure out what I can do. Never really looked at it, I just figured I would ask before I went diving into something I didnt know anything about. Thanks.

two options- hard bolt the crossmember to the frame and use a stock 4x2 trans mount from a 1985 f-150 with a 435.

or

hardbolt the crossmember to the transmission and put sections of tube on both ends of the crossmember. Put leaf spring bushings in the tube and then weld tabs to the frame to install the crossmember in- a lot like some stock ranger setup.

Sounds like you got it down to a science.
Option number uno sounds good to me and looks like the easiest way to go for me. Thanks man.

I've thrown these things into so many things that they're not supposed to be in or not supposed to hook to that it really becomes second nature.

You have a third option, but i doubt it will be of much use in a ranger. If for some reason you need to get the output of the trans higher get a trans mount for an 87-91 F250 4x4 with a 435 and a 351W. The mount is taller and stronger than the 4x2 mount, but in a ranger the 4x2 mount oughta do you just fine- especially if you're running an aluminum t-case.

If you're running an iron case, us the auxillary mount or you'll be killing the primary mount on a regular basis.

its got the 205 behind it, so i'll just run the bigger bushing.

make sure the 205 is also strapper to something. 435+NP205= broken motor mounts. Ask me how I know.

If you use the stock 4x2 type mount/bushing setup you will need to build some sort of side mount to replace the stocker on the 205. It may be easier to ditch the stock center mount which will give you two bolt holes to either use an early bronco style bushings or hardmount and run bushings at the frame.

thats why i'm using the f250 mount like he said above.. I'm still going to build some sort of mount for the 205 tho i'm sure.

I run old 50's model chevy motor mounts there 2" thick rubber pucks. I sandwiched the x member top and bottom and run a sleeve thru em with my bolt. pm me if you'd like a pn#
