I keep seeing hints and bits where people claim that polymer framed weapons (Ruger P345 for example) will warp if they get too hot.
Really? I thought guns were designed to take the heat of several hundred rounds at a time on range days and competition days?
My real concern is that if carrying a Polymer framed gun as a CCW, and I have to leave it in my car while I visit my daughters school or some other 30.06 establishment, my car can easily get upwards of 150*F in the summer.
Should I really be concerned about this?

You have nothing to worry about. If it were a problem, the dash of your car would melt.

FWIW, I took my Glock on a trip to Cental Washington. I left it in my Scout for 3 days with 90-100 degree weather. It shoots just as good as it did before the trip.

So what would it take for me to get you to bake my wife's gun with North Carolina Blue?
Honestly though.. I had read this as I was perusing the web over the last few weeks. I didnt believe it, and figured you guys would give me the straight dope.

My glock spent 3 months (June, July, August) in my black truck in Austin with no problems. It don't get much hotter than that in Texas, you'll be fine.

My Glock 19 has spent all day tucked under the seat during work hours for 3 years. It gets hot here.
No problems. And like Gil said, I've baked a Duracoated Glock frame at 175 overnight. It was fine.
Tim's point about the dash was good, too. Never considered arguing that angle - too obvious, I suppose.

Guns and Ammo TV put a XD on a grill and cooked it with some chicken breast. Aside from the melt marks where the polymer contacted the metal grate it was fine and functioned reliably
