The other day i got a ticket for driving off road on public property. What happen was my dad wanted to lauch his kayak into a lake and was worried about getting stuck so he had me drive my truck down to pull him out if he stuck. I parked my truck 20 feet for the road and waited for him to go kayaking. 15minutes later a sheriff drives up and gives us both ticket for 4wheelin:flipoff:which is somewhat funny because i was in 2 wheel drive. anyways it's a mistameanor and i have to go to court. i was hopeing one of you guys knew more about the law so i could understand what i did wrong and maybe get out of court:D the code and section is b-12-91

PLEASE KEEP YOUR 4X4 VEHICLE ON DESIGNATED ROADS AND TRAILS AT ALL TIMES, FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF ALL TRAILS TO ALL USERS FOR ALL TIME!!!

was it a approved launching area? if so then yes i would fight it if it wasnt, just a spot your dad has used for years to launch his Kayak then :flipoff: you! BTW how heavy is a damn kayak? would it have been that freaking hard to lift it out the back of the truck and take it down to the river? fucking newbies :flipoff:

I think it is an approved lauch area because there is a road that leads dock there that a lot of people park above. There is also a gate at the top of the road that was open. The water is real low this year and the water is like hundred feet below the dock which would be a fair hike carrying a kayak up. The ranger has driven down there when i have been parked above the dock like i was this time and not said anything. I'm not asking for sympathy. I know your supposed to stay on designated trails but i thought this was a desiganated trail. That why i posted this in hope of finding out that law i broken and maybe some insightfull information to get me out of this.thanks and i'm sorry to put the trails at risk i would never intentionally do that.:)

You can ask the officer to see a written copy of the alleged violations, when you are cited. I had a highway patrol officer kindly show me the frame height limitations taht he had pulled me over for, then I kindly showed him that I was within those limitations by a quarter inch. In your case though, it sounds like your vehicle was off of an established road, which is the reason you got a ticket.

If you think you were in the right, take it to court and fight it. Many times the law does not show up to court and the case is dismissed. However, if you were in the wrong, TOO BAD!!!! I looked in the CVC and could not find a violation with that number. What type and was it a cop or a ranger that gave you the ticket?:D
