well i got my 38 tsl's on and they're a bit taller then my 38 gumbo's were. anyone got some pics of how they removed their fenders and how they attached the grill and hood together, rather then a tube fender. some pics of the brackets or whatever device that you used would be nice
thanks

Very cool, kick ass even!

Did you stretch the frame? Any pics?

Just take a sawzall and chop off all the front fenders, leaving the inners, and the small area where the latch mounts. That's what I just did. If your tires are hitting you inner fenders then you're screwed and you have to pull them. Or just flat fender it, but eventually you'll crush them and end up like the first option I mentioned (trust me)

Looks really good. I especially like the cage. But just in case you get a big head.... 38s vs stock D44 (locked) = :nuke: :flipoff2:

I'll look into cutting it out except the inner fenders. but think they will hit. I'm trying to lose some weight from the jeep so thought removing fenders might help plus got them sold for 200 bucks!!! thanks for the suggestions and compliments.

Sweet! Now what is that in the back of the tub? Fuel cell?

Yup that's a 20+ gallong stainless steel fuel cell. It's got pickups on both the driver and passenger side. right now its sittiong on 2.5x2.5 blocks but i'm making some bracketry to get rid of that and i can still slide stuff like shafts under the tank.

Again I ask. :flipoff2:

Did you stretch the frame, or how did you get the rear axle moved back that far?

What was the question again, I forgot!!!

Seriously, I swapped in 83 toyota rear leaf springs that were 4.5"s offset and moved my shackle hanger brackets back 2"s.

why are you finger fawkin that swamper? :flipoff2:

looks good. i took my fenders off and used 2x1/4 strap and ran it from the frame up the radiator support where the fender bolts on and made the peice long enough to be bent over at the top so the latch could be bolted on. used a torch to heat the strap into shape.:D

Looks nice! Glad to see another CJ-5 being built there are so few anymore.

If you want to lose some front weight you might ditch the hood and fenders and look at the plastic rock crawler style hood at Advanced Frame Works.

I have been thinking about 38 TSL's for my 5 also. Can you tell me what the laoded radius is and the non-laoded radius?
