I have the chance to pick a Th350 for under $100. Is there a difference between the truck and car versions of the trans? He has one from a mid 70's Blazer, a late 70's 3/4 ton Chevy, and a few from some cars.

I did the search, but didn't find anything helpful.

Any help would be appreciated.

Truck cases have a slightly thicker bellhousing, and are identified by the large cast-in "K" on the bellhousing. Not really much difference, depends on what you're gonig to use it in, car transmissions will have either a short or long tailshaft, no biggie if you're adapting and your kit comes with a new shaft.

I plan to use it for a rebuild. Then sell or use myself.

I am trying to learn how to do transmissions, and I know someone with a few of these laying around.

So I assume the truck trans would be better.

I have never seen a full circle TH350 automatic transmission case, I think that guy is thinking manual trans or something.

The truck trans case is only marginally stronger, either trans would be a good candidate for a learning experience, and the TH350 in general is a good trans to learn on, dime a dozen, easy to work on, cheap parts, lots of aftermaket.

Yep, I thought it would be a good choice. I have a th400 right now for my Jeep, so if I can learn the 350, it should help alot on doing the 400.

Then I can move on to the 700R4. Then it will get interesting for sure:)

If this is one you're going to sell later, get a dual pattern case. That way you can sell it to someone with either a Chevy or BOP application. Don't know too much about the years. I think I'd avoid very early ones, there's bound to be something different about them though I don't know what that would be. Some of the later ones are setup for a lockup torque converter. Might want to avoid those too unless they're in demand in your area.

I am assuming the BOP stands for Buick, Olds, Pontiac ???

And I am not too sure whether I can get one of those. Most of the guys I know that would want it are running Chevy's...

Thanks for the info.
