So my parts finally arrive last night, and I figure i'll replace the speedo cable today. ok, thats done, with little difficulty.

then I spot the float for the carb. when the shop in slc went through my carb, the parts shop was slow in getting them the float. so the mechanic just gave it to me and said it's easy to figure out.

since I've never done any carb work, I bring up google and do a search. not much help. ok, I figure I'll unbolt the top and look inside.

now i've got it figured out. remove plate and pin, and set old float aside. grab new float and find....

it's the wrong fawking part!

figures, just when I though I had my problems with starting fixed.

What kind of carb. What different about it. It may look different but still work if it's a Quadrajet. I always have about 2-3 (different) floats ready to use when I rebuild a QJ. That way I can pick the one with the best offroad-ability design.

So it may have a different part number or whatever, but may still work.
