Anyway you do it, it's all good!
Wilson 10-14-2008, 05:53 AM That would be cool if that could be arranged some year and have a dozen or so rigs make landfall like that. How many could fit on one of those?

pismojim 10-22-2008, 08:57 PM Jim, is there gonna be a mob shirt ? if so put me down for 1 xl and 1 small.
Sorry John I still have some of last year's Mob Shirt so I didn't plan on buying more. However, I did order a bunch of the "SNT Beach Party" shirts, including a few in long sleeves.
I'll think about it once I get caught up, or if I get caught up on my chores. I picked up the dash plaques featuring Dave's "Land Cruiser Motor Home" and they look awesome. I also have the official "SNT MOB RUN" bibs.
Best part, I found TEN (10) FREE year long subscriptions to 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine in my mail box. Thanks Mr. Z!!!
I'll put them in the box with the $180 in Spector Off Road gift cards!:smokin:

pismojim 10-23-2008, 06:21 PM Any fire wood needed I have some for free no nails
Clean firewood is always good. The locals, "Sethzilla" and "Doc" will bring a couple trailer loads for the community fire at main camp. So we usually have that pretty well covered.
With the ever increasing crowd, there seems to be more group camp fires spread throughout the Cruiser City. So like I said, clean firewood is always good.

slosurfer 10-23-2008, 07:14 PM I'll be there with my son (4). I'm going to try to get the 4runner finished in time, but otherwise I'll be mobbing this around the dunes:

pismojim 10-24-2008, 12:18 AM Great, I've been wanting to get a closer look at the 4WD 5spd Toyota Van!
I hear they have excellent payload capacity for carrying missiles...

Rat70FJ 10-26-2008, 03:00 PM Well, looks like I'll finally make it this year along with worknplay, mikekopping and Hangtowncruzer. Jim, is there anyplace to fill a fresh water tank that's convenient? I'd rather not haul an extra 1000 pounds of water in my toybox if I don't need to.
pismojim 10-26-2008, 03:18 PM Yes, I understand you can fill at the State Campground near the beach entrance. Part of your privileges with your beach camping pass.
Bringing sand buggies???
Rat70FJ 10-26-2008, 04:07 PM I'll have my bike with a paddle, no cruisers up:(. Jerry (worknplay) will have his quad and Mike's gonna bring his LS1 sand rail. Dave's gonna drink.
Jason M 10-27-2008, 08:59 AM ANy good maps of the area and a location of the general campsite?
peesalot 10-27-2008, 12:15 PM Mace , it is at milepost 6 or 7 you literally can't miss the cruisers from the main road or path at waters edge. However, it is like 5 miles down beach so you will break long before you get there.

I either break int he driveway or getting off the trailer.
i'll be a couple of miles into the sand by then :D

I will feel obligated to help Dave drink, team player and all. Sounds like a good time.
Wilson 10-29-2008, 07:59 PM one week and we should be nearing the beach!
pismojim 10-29-2008, 08:43 PM The new freshly welded roll cage and seat frame for the "Katherine's 40" went to the powder coater today. Looking good for SNT debut.
"Knuckles" is running well and doing pre-SNT errands with a new ARB locker and new Ruffstuff (heavy duty!) diff cover. Even fixed the through the roof MNO ham antenna mount after ripping it off and tearing a hole in the roof. Pulling into the garage (1" roof clearance) without removing the antenna was ugly. Amazing what a dolly and hammer can do to good old Aracco steel.
"Ruby" the FZJ80 is going to make it too sans ABS but with a new, post Deer Valley, birfield.
I saw a big pile of black shirts at the printer today. The test print looks AWESOME!
Planning a Wednesday morning assault on the beach!
WebWhlR 10-29-2008, 09:09 PM I thought there was an SNT thread around for parts for sale/wanted but couldnt find it...
If anyone has a 55 tank I am in the market for one. It will go on a '69 piggy and not sure what years are interchangable.
Thanks!! 1 week and counting!

Checkout the SNT site... I believe there are some helpful camping tips. My recomendation is sandbags (hold down the tent, tarp, etc.)
Wilson 10-30-2008, 04:25 PM and plastic fencing/ caution tape if you don't plan on camping in cruiser city.
65Chevy4x4 10-30-2008, 10:41 PM Man every year there's something happening with my truck, or family, or somethign that makes it so I can't go out there. Anyways i'll try and get out there thursday if I get the day off to show you guys what some wheel travel and a big v8 can do for ya at pismo.

Dooner 11-01-2008, 10:47 PM Well, looks like I'll finally make it this year along with worknplay, mikekopping and Hangtowncruzer. Jim, is there anyplace to fill a fresh water tank that's convenient? I'd rather not haul an extra 1000 pounds of water in my toybox if I don't need to.
Jims right, you can fill up with water and dump tanks at the North Beach Campground which is just north of Grand street on Hwy 1. This campground is on the west side of the road, accross the street from several RV places.
There are two beach ramp entrys the 1st being on Grand and the 2nd being a little further south in Grover Beach on Pier Ave.
We usually take the Grand exit off of Hwy 101 and head west as there are several gas stations, restarants, places to get beer wood etc.
Dooner 11-01-2008, 10:54 PM Any fire wood needed I have some for free no nails
Nail free wood is huge! Show up with wood pallets and the locals will probably string you up! 16 penny nails do ugly things to tires
pismojim 11-01-2008, 11:31 PM Nail free wood is huge! Show up with wood pallets and the locals will probably string you up! 16 penny nails do ugly things to tires
And bare feet!
The other beach campfire tip:
Don't bury your camp fire when you leave. Just leave it burning. Really, it's OK, you can't burn down the sand dunes.
You don't want to step onto or park on top of a recently buried campfire.
Sadly, there are enough asshats leaving glass bottles and other debris that I don't recommend kids running around barefoot until you're policed an area. Sad, but true.
Fortunately, the beach is looking really pristine now. The crowds have left and mother nature is quickly reclaiming the beach and dunes.
pismojim 11-02-2008, 01:14 PM Do you feel lucky punk?

pismojim 11-02-2008, 10:39 PM We'll be setting up at Pole 6 on Wednesday. Stop by. :)
pismojim 11-02-2008, 10:41 PM It's rough duty but I had to cruise the dunes today to scout and map the POKER RUN checkpoints. Getting back from Check Point 3 might be a little tough, easiest route is counter clockwise. There are somewhat steep loose dunes leaving Boy Scout Camp area that are unavoidable. But I made it (on a second try). ;)
Here's the result:
You should be able to "save as" this Google Earth KMZ file (http://realcruiser.com/tracks/sntpoker2008.kmz) and take the flying tour.

pismojim 11-03-2008, 11:54 PM How do Krawlers work in the sand? I was gonna run them instead of the 42" Iroks
Everything works in the sand. You probably would enjoy the smaller, lighter, faster spinning tire. Something to take advantage of horsepower. I don't think flotation will be an issue.

mickey_rubicon 11-05-2008, 02:30 PM I have been to all six of these, would not miss it for anything. Me and dad are heading out thursday night. Stopping in Gonzales for a couple of drinks and then its beach time. Here is a photo of us from the first one with Drexx's 80 after he shattered his carrier when he gave my dad a ride. Remember us young whimper pampers Jim? We had to share a mylar blanket because i got lost one mile from camp. Oh the good old days, and the of course I drove that lady's alero in the pond off garcia ridge. I love those photos. The poison oak lasted months.

one 55 guy 11-10-2008, 04:22 PM well we missed you guys :(:( my brother & me were like kids in the sand box , we moved a lot of sand , (40 ltbs ) & I broke a valve spring ( rpm red line ) you guys missed out :shaking::shaking: Damon thats 2 no shows
mickey_rubicon 11-10-2008, 04:27 PM I can't belive I made it to all 7 at this point. It is amazing to see the turnout, having been to the first few where only a handful of rigs made it. Hats off to JIm to do all this work. Will post the photo link soon. Got rolled 4 times by the law in the 3 days but never got in trouble for anything. Maybe it's the amount of stickers at this point. On route to Pozo saloon we even got checked for loaded weapons by the Fish and Game. Hilarious. Add to that 2 CHP encounters near San Miguel each way and one Sate Ranger at the dunes. Good thing all my paperwork is organized in the glove box. Nice to see everyone.
