The best entrance for the Half Wacked Crew would be storming the beach in a landing craft full of Cruisers.

or...

Take HWY 1 exit (Dolliver) to drive through downtown Pismo past the pier, etc.

Take Fourth St at the Outlet Stores, (exit, LT, then RT on 4th), to RT on Grand...

Miss everything and take Grand Ave exit, West 3 miles to the beach. (probably the way you took).

Anyway you do it, it's all good!

Sorry John I still have some of last year's Mob Shirt so I didn't plan on buying more. However, I did order a bunch of the "SNT Beach Party" shirts, including a few in long sleeves.

I'll think about it once I get caught up, or if I get caught up on my chores. I picked up the dash plaques featuring Dave's "Land Cruiser Motor Home" and they look awesome. I also have the official "SNT MOB RUN" bibs.

Best part, I found TEN (10) FREE year long subscriptions to 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine in my mail box. Thanks Mr. Z!!!

Clean firewood is always good. The locals, "Sethzilla" and "Doc" will bring a couple trailer loads for the community fire at main camp. So we usually have that pretty well covered.

With the ever increasing crowd, there seems to be more group camp fires spread throughout the Cruiser City. So like I said, clean firewood is always good.

The new freshly welded roll cage and seat frame for the "Katherine's 40" went to the powder coater today. Looking good for SNT debut.

"Knuckles" is running well and doing pre-SNT errands with a new ARB locker and new Ruffstuff (heavy duty!) diff cover. Even fixed the through the roof MNO ham antenna mount after ripping it off and tearing a hole in the roof. Pulling into the garage (1" roof clearance) without removing the antenna was ugly. Amazing what a dolly and hammer can do to good old Aracco steel.

"Ruby" the FZJ80 is going to make it too sans ABS but with a new, post Deer Valley, birfield.

Jims right, you can fill up with water and dump tanks at the North Beach Campground which is just north of Grand street on Hwy 1. This campground is on the west side of the road, accross the street from several RV places.

There are two beach ramp entrys the 1st being on Grand and the 2nd being a little further south in Grover Beach on Pier Ave.

We usually take the Grand exit off of Hwy 101 and head west as there are several gas stations, restarants, places to get beer wood etc.

And bare feet!

The other beach campfire tip:
Don't bury your camp fire when you leave. Just leave it burning. Really, it's OK, you can't burn down the sand dunes.

You don't want to step onto or park on top of a recently buried campfire.

Sadly, there are enough asshats leaving glass bottles and other debris that I don't recommend kids running around barefoot until you're policed an area. Sad, but true.

Fortunately, the beach is looking really pristine now. The crowds have left and mother nature is quickly reclaiming the beach and dunes.

It's rough duty but I had to cruise the dunes today to scout and map the POKER RUN checkpoints. Getting back from Check Point 3 might be a little tough, easiest route is counter clockwise. There are somewhat steep loose dunes leaving Boy Scout Camp area that are unavoidable. But I made it (on a second try). ;)

Here's the result:
You should be able to "save as" this Google Earth KMZ file (http://realcruiser.com/tracks/sntpoker2008.kmz) and take the flying tour.

Everything works in the sand. You probably would enjoy the smaller, lighter, faster spinning tire. Something to take advantage of horsepower. I don't think flotation will be an issue.

I have been to all six of these, would not miss it for anything. Me and dad are heading out thursday night. Stopping in Gonzales for a couple of drinks and then its beach time. Here is a photo of us from the first one with Drexx's 80 after he shattered his carrier when he gave my dad a ride. Remember us young whimper pampers Jim? We had to share a mylar blanket because i got lost one mile from camp. Oh the good old days, and the of course I drove that lady's alero in the pond off garcia ridge. I love those photos. The poison oak lasted months.

I can't belive I made it to all 7 at this point. It is amazing to see the turnout, having been to the first few where only a handful of rigs made it. Hats off to JIm to do all this work. Will post the photo link soon. Got rolled 4 times by the law in the 3 days but never got in trouble for anything. Maybe it's the amount of stickers at this point. On route to Pozo saloon we even got checked for loaded weapons by the Fish and Game. Hilarious. Add to that 2 CHP encounters near San Miguel each way and one Sate Ranger at the dunes. Good thing all my paperwork is organized in the glove box. Nice to see everyone.
