Don't matter to me, just don't drive through my neighborhood- PLEASE!!

I'd just preheat and glue that bastard together w/ my miller mig. are you planning on welding in a nice traingle gussed? 1/2" plate is good inssurance :D

I hate to have to admit this, but when I ran Yota axles I welded mine with the ole Lincoln mig.
I ran it like that for 3 years and I didn't have the brace in there.
I had power steering and 35/15.50-15 TSLs.
The only problem I had was, I replaced the studs with longer bolts when I did it and they kept coming loose.
I eventually put studs in it and had no more problems.
I like the idea of drilling the top holes out bigger so that the socket fits down it and use the stock setup...wish I had thought of that.

I welded mine up with a Millermatic Stick and didn't do much fancy....I do run a thick gusset-plate tho. 4 years and no problems, 38.5's on a boosted PS. IIRC, I used a hi-nickel rod and let it cool very slowly, but that's about it.

rod with High-nickle content ~ pre-heat, heavily gusset, don't cut corners, heat treat after.

I used to use this method until the only welder I trusted to do it right moved....now I do the flat-top style. There has been several people try to weld things on, some break some don't. None of mine ever broke and some are still in service after a few years of hard wheeling...but for me its a liability thing...

rocktop----I MIG welded 2 Yota arms together.....I realized it was cast steel so I slowed the wire feed down just a little and went slow....it 'pre-heated" as I went along. Only the start-up fizzled a bit. The weld was smooth and had a good sound. I used 2 triangle shaped braces in between the arms. If I tried to move the puddle too fast then I would get some sputter so the trick was to move the puddle in an "S" fashion and go slow...let the heat have a chance to stay in the lead. Worked just fine. It doesn't take a big MIG for this job....could have done it with a Century 100. FYI
