: Suprise Canyon SD Meeting
Bill4rest 08-06-2002, 08:42 PM I just got back from the SD meeting and I'm already kicking myself for not speaking up and succumb to stage fright:mad:. I know now exactly what I want to say and will post it as soon as I write it up for submission.
At the 7pm portion of the meeting went rather well and I applaud the speakers on our behalf. We totally out numbered the eco nazi’s (only two from what I could see). Maybe someone else who knows the issues better can further the debrief.:D
YellowSub1962 08-06-2002, 09:45 PM they're Anti-Recreationists, not eco-nazis....
and at least you showed up, so what you pussed out and didn't talk.... It was the first time I spoke in front of an "official" crowd since I dropped out of speech in college - twice ;)
just get up there and say it...no one cares if you stumble through it (I know I did)...just don't picture the audience in their underwear like they tell you in speech class since most 4 wheelers are ugly enough with their clothers on
:usa:
Bill4rest 08-07-2002, 07:07 AM Fawlk don't make me feel worse:( The main reason I pussed out was the fact that I did not know the issue's well enough to get me up there, But after I listened to everybody; I thought about it on my way home (45 min is a long think session for me). I did have something to say. I wish there was another one soon so I can redeem myself:mad:
BTW Anti-Recreationists or eco-nazis both groups are:rainbow: anyway.
landusepbb 08-07-2002, 08:28 AM I know the feeling well. The first meeting I went to was back in the late 80s, I think, was about Mt. Graham in SE AZ. I had stage fright and couldn't spit out a 10th of what I wanted to say. After a number of years of just getting up and doing it, now you can't shut me up.:D
StinkBug 08-07-2002, 09:43 AM Yeah, it was my first meeting of this type, and i wish i had said something. I will for sure next time. I was quite happy to see a lot of people show up, the early meeting was kinda weak, only about 7 people total. 3 speakers, one for opening, one for closing, and one i couldn't tell she just kinda rambled and posed questions.
Dallas
RE:Todd 08-07-2002, 04:48 PM Bill, were you the one with Dallas?? I forgot to ask for POR names. I was indecisive about speaking until I said" Fawk it, are you going to boo me out from behind the podium???" Besides, everyone knows how shy and introverted I am.
I was real happy with the turn out, we probably had 70 people in attendance, 2 of them being anti-recreationalists. Thanks to SD4, TDS, the 2 TinBenders, JeepAholics, and others who took the time to attend.

Thank God I ain't the only one!! I got a great speech in my head now but drew a blank on what to say after everyone hit the points I wanted to.

No, I was the tall guy with the Sweatshirt and red SPY hat. I think I was sitting like three or four chairs down from Dallas.

Thanks, I feel better now:D On that note I did take like 20 to 30 comment sheets with me, I just gave one to my Brother tonight. All my coworkers know what/ and how I feel about my sport/hobby and they are more that happy to write something (I told them I'd buy the stamps;))

I wasn't trying to make you feel bad sorry...
I meant don't feel bad, at least you were there and you have to start somewhere....next time think of it this way
You would have no problem talking to any one of the people in the audience out in the hall after the meeting, so why not talk to them all at once and save yourself the repeating :) Also, for everyminute you're up there, is one less minute someone can speak against us... so babbling and stumbling is god in that sense ;)
Everyone still needs to WRITE THEIR COMMENTS AND MAIL THEM IN we're out numbered by around 3000 from what I hear...
