Well, almost got laid off last Wed. :mad3:

Car dealerships and the current economy status don't mix too well. Atleast I still have my job but in a different parts department. :homer:

Had another group camping trip get cancelled again on Sat, so I went by myself.:smokin:

Finished up the crossmember for the 203/205, pulled the 203, cleaned some parts and built a case spreader so I can set up my 60 when the time comes. Got ready to pull the T19 so I can swap in the other T19, but ran out of time.

Zero Scout work as well, unless you count walking by them and looking at the tires loosing air.

Yard and family work.... again. Well I guess IH related was getting 12 yards of top soil for my father in the 1510. (3 trips, 4 yards each trip). Mildly monumental since it was the first time I've actually loaded it up close or at gross. Taken many yard recycling and a couple dump runs in it, but maybe 2-tons at its heaviest. No scale but 4-yard of topsoil (damp) roughly equals 4-ton.

Truck handled it like a champ, it was nice to have the 2-speed rear, you pretty much drive it foot to the floor or idle :D. Little worried since I haven't gotten around to even checking the rear diff fluid level, but o-well, they were 10-15 minutes trips. Would have been nice to have a little more brake one the one panic stop I had to do. Luckily there was no one in the intersection. Time to get the rear brakes looked at.

Might go look at a couple new pop-up campers... That IH related since it would be for wheeling trips (mostly)

Doing my part to keep the poor, underprivileged, overworked, underpaid, unappreciated car salesman employed. They are starving out there people; do your part to keep them fed.:D Be a good American and stimulate the economy.
I had to settle for a QuadCAB 4X4 as New Megacabs are nonexistent. NOW is the time to get a new tow rig.

... NOW is the time to get a new tow rig.
..

I've actually gotten a couple of calls from local dealerships offering me "top dollar" for my '01 CTD. With that and the greatly reduced prices on new trucks, I'd be lieing if I said the thought hadn't crossed my mind. But, my current truck suits my needs just fine, doesn't have any "problems" and will be paid off in about 7 months. I'm really liking the idea of not having a vehicle payment every month and I don't really want to mess with all the DPF bullshit on the new trucks.

I'm the opposite. I had a truck that was WAY long ago paid off, worth nothing and over 350,000 very hard miles on it. Because I have driven it for so long, I had saved a killer down that got me zero interest, dirt low payments and just two years to pay off. I could pay it off now, but I need something on my credit report other than empty cards. My Fico was dropping to below 750 because I was showing no credit activity in the last two years. This will get me back up. I needed to do this. Zero debt is cool, but you do need to keep some credit activity going. No long term activity is just as bad as bad reports.
I also had my concerns with the DPF as my Daughter has an 07 4x4 Dodge 3500 6.7. It appears that it is fixed, finally. She hasn't had an issue with it in over 8 months now. Previously it was every week. No lie. It was two days from invoking the Lemon Law.

It is strange to look down and not see over 300,000 on an odometer. :homer:
Plus a heater and radio that works! :D

Went to the IH Rallye at Lake Francis. Some guy had a working IH from 1913Yep wagon wheels an all. Used sodium to make acetylene gas for the head lights:eek::smokin: There were a lot of people there, about 40+ scouts and pickups. Did the trail ride on Friday with about 14 rigs, the brush was so tight you could only see about 30' in places and completely loose sight of the guy in front of ya. If we would have had more rain the the trails would have been more fun for me. We lost Mike during the ride, he was picking up the rear and in contact with the CB, and the next thing he knows he was all alone. He said it was like some UFO's came and snatched up 13 rigs, I said we back tracked and thought the same thing!! Had a balst talking shop with everyone, looking for ideas to add. I did win first place in the RTI ramp contest, so I must be doing something right. Ed won the slow crawl contest, something just under 4 minutes, my time was 17 seconds:shaking:

edit.. Had to include the Scout camper, that thing was like new!!

I rode bitch with Scout Broker on Fordyce. Not as hard as I thought it was gonna be. Whinch hill 1 we bypassed but everything else looked pretty doable. Maybe some snow or mud might have made it a lot harder. Having a 4.3/700r4/231/D300/4.88's/ARB's helped some I'm sure:D

Getting to be a good time of year for that. :)

We bought a Jayco 1006 last February. 3k Gross rating, 2k empty. ~$7k.

Michelle will even tow it with the 4" lifted/33" shod Scout II. The 304/727/3.73/33s does fine dragging it around here in Montana (and pulls down ~12mpg doing it).

Does wag a bit.. but then, so does the Scout without the trailer.

Scout deals with the trailer about as well as you'd expect - much more and maybe it'd be too much.

We have a storage box on the front. Dual LPG tanks.

Queen bed on one end, double on the other, with a fold-down couch and the convertable dinette.. they claim a total of 8 berths that way.

Hot water is nice, when you don't slosh all of the water out of the freshwater holding tank on a 200 mile drive, includind 30 miles of FS roads, to the camp site. (I've since installed a valve on the overflow).

Outdoor shower worked for washing Joleigh off.

Heater works, but with a glorified tent, it goes through the LPG - but it is nice to have!

Kid likes it.. heck, she wants to play in it when it's folded down, since it's just about her size. :D

Also nice to be able to keep her inside and shut the door and keep her there. :)

We've used it 3 times.. twice in June (once in the snow!) and then for a week in July.

I intend to tow it behind my GN to avoid taking two tow rigs everywhere, but the GN is currently in the driveway on jack stands with the ancient axles cut off, waiting for me to weld the new 7k units in.

As to my weekend.. drove the green Scout 300 miles, went to Chico Hot Springs for the night, drove past a number of rigs stuck in the snow over the Livingston pass, went to a Hamfest and bought some radios (pair of Azden 2M FM mobiles) and some books, and managed 14mpg out of the '73 at 65mph.

One of the more memorable moments was pulling up to Bozeman on I-90, with a truck pulling a trailer in the left lane, when I noticed a ricer coming up behind me, hot. I had time to think "This isn't going to be pretty" when instead of rear ending me, the ricer just drifted over to the shoulder and made the pass on the right at 90+ and just moved back on over all the way to the left lane to pass the next car in front of me.

That was about 30 miles before we came upon SUVs stuck in the ditches.

Did the brakes not help any? Or was it one of those situations where "heavy on the brakes" was a really bad idea?

I have to have a co pilot to keep one foot on the shifter on steep inclines. I've done the carb / died trick with and no brakes. I was standing on the pedal and still went to the bottom of the hill. I upgrade to hyrdoboost with a "NEW" canister on the side, good for at least 2 full on brake pushed or 4-5 half pushes:smokin: That saved my bacon a couple times. Since then I went FI and cross my fingers, no issues yet. That D20 will be comming out soon. Have a D300 I can put in there. Hopefully the "pills" are in good shape.
