im still putting my bronco project together im using the full width axles off a 79 bronco frame...i see that the frame still has the power steering box on it ..will that fit or even work on the 68 bronco?...i have 39" tires on the bronco right now and will end up with a ram steer of some sort but i was just wondering if this box will work.....
Don't think it will. I'm pretty sure fullsize Bronco boxes are the same as pickups - the pitman arm faces forward. The EB pitman arm faces rearward.
You can get kits that use a pickup box with a different sector shaft, but they're expensive.

Look there.
Its called the 4x4x2 converesion.
Its really the best box you can get for an EB.

You can run it as-is, without doing the conversion. You will need to drill new bolt holes. IIRC the rearmost upper and lower bolts will squeeze right in between the stock crossmember gussets. This puts the box right at the crossmember in a strong spot.
Or you can move the front forward 4-5" and mount the 4x4 box in the stock location.

You can also use a Toyota IFS box, Nissan 4x4 box, Scout II box, 4x4x2 Ford box.
The Nissan ones are pretty easy to find and are Saginaw boxes. They are almost a dead match for the stock EB Box.

If youve got the Big Bronco box just sitting there and its free then just use it. Ive done 3 of these swaps and theyre cake.

I used that box in my 74 f100, The box got reversed so it steers with the pitman facing rearward. I dont know if its a different sector or what but it works. :flipoff2:

Use the box from the 79'. It's an easy install but you need to swap out the guts. That's also cheap and easy. I mounted mine using the stock front bolt and re-drilling the frame for the back two.

i set mine up with a toyota fj60 box. just like the toyota ifs box but forward facing pitman arm so i have more room to move the front axle. nice little unit, its compact and supposed to be pretty stout(i dont really care too much because im running assist), plus it 4.5 turns lock to lock instead of the ridiculous 6.5.
