I have a 97 for dranger with a 4 banger 2.3 and I was wondering if there are any porformance mods to make this things have some more power. I am going to re-do the exhuast, and try and do an intake, but I am looking for more power than that. does anyone out there know of any good place to find proformance parts for this engine. I can't even find the entire intake for it.

Any help would be great.

Thanks a lot

The best mod you can do is 4.0 or 5.0 swap...

But if you insist on keeping the 2.3.. check out :

www.rangerpowersports.com

The second one is a lowerride site, but they have a lot of performance info.

Agreed! A '97 2.3 is a 2WD. This is serious 4X4 territory!

(or is it converted to 4X4?)

IF you insist on keeping the 2.3 then there are a couple things you can do.
First off the 2.3 is a decent motor for a 4 banger. It has been used for years and years.
Ford increased the stroke on the 4 banger ranger motor to make it a 2.5, so you can get a crank and rods from a newer Ranger to get some cubes. You can get a factory turbo off an older T-Bird Turbo-coupe, which will be fairly easy to add on. SVO sells a high flow head for that motor as well. Try checking the web for Turbo coupe and Merkur XR4ti site as they both use this same motor.
