I know it's been covered before, but I can't find it.

Does anyone know who can modify Hummer wheels to get reasonable backspacing in the NW. We alled Willamit(sp) Wheel and the guy said they couldn't do it. Andy's going to take the wheel down to them to show them what we want and see what they say. Has any one done this? I'm going to run them on my Blazer and don't want the extra width of spacers.

I have a friend that took a set and cut the center out.He then took the center from some dually rims and reduced the back spacing to something like 4 inches..It turned out looking pretty sharp..If you were to do this you could set the back spacing however you wanted it..Hope this helps. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

We were talking about doing it ourselves, setting up a jig and cutting the center out with a plasma cutter and the tacking a new center in to check the run-out and then welding it in the rest of the way. I would rather pay someone who's done a few than spending a whole bunch of time on them myself.

i'm going to run them as well, but I'm still looking for the rubber civilian runflats do you know of any for sale?

I took close up photos of my Hummer wheels and sent them to Whillamette to see if they could change my back spacing. The problem turned out ot be both, the center is not removable (OK you could just cut the center out but then it can't be reused) and the center is a odd size or non standard size. If you could find one that fit the wheel or at least close it would be easy. By reading the post above it sounds like someone may have found one?

What about Stockton Wheel, have you tried them?

What I found is, if you use a 16" dually rim and cut the beads off both sides so you only have the center and the "barrel" of the wheel. It will slide perfectly into the inside of the Humvee wheel. I plan on leaving about 4" of the "barrel" attacted to the 16' center, slide it in and measure the backspacing I want, and measure off the off the original center to the new one to "true it up". After welding the new center in, I'll cut the old one out.

If you can use a 16" dually wheel, couldn't you do the same with any other 16" steel wheel? Then you wouldn't have the funky deep dish of the dually wheel.

Call Pat at Premier Power welders he runs hummer rims with relocated centers and a couple years ago he had extra new centers that could be welded in.

Jason at Twisted Customs does this on Hummer wheels. He runs them on both ARCA rigs. Has a jig and everything. Give him a call. He is more than willing to help people out.

I talked to Pat via E mail a few months ago about this. The centers he has are aftermarket from a company wich no longer makes them.

sorry rodger, I'm still going to run my hummer rims, one of the guys on broncofix asked if I could get him a phone #, cause he wants to run them on a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern.
