The 4Wheel Drive Hardware rock crawling team will be getting a face lift for the 2009 competition. We're working on a project for 2009 and it starts with the body tub removal...but this is all the info I'm giving you guys for now. I'll post pics as we get more and more done...and once it's all done, I'll post up what we're doing.

Looks good Kelly. Mine will be going threw that once the snow starts hitting. Surprising, I got it to finally start last Saturday and now it runs fine....and I didn't do anything to it but hold the petal to the floor when it would finnally start cranking again and it finnally fired up. Now it runs just like it did before ASN and starts right up. Going to wheel a couple more times this fall before the tear down.

So any more secrets to give out? I need to figure out if I'm going to try to patch new panels onto mine or if I need to just get a new tub. I am looking at a plastic hood too :D

TJMagoo
10-14-2008, 10:36 AM
Wow John - I guess your rig just needed a breather before it fired up for you. My tub was so wrecked, as soon as we lifted the cage out, it was like the tub let out a sigh of relief. 4 years of competitions = 4 hard rolls and 4 flops = tub beat to shit.

I'm picking up the new tub today from Davey's Jeeps. That's all I'm letting out for now. You all will have to stay tuned to see the end result and what this top secret project is we're working on for 2009.

(Those of you that know, please don't let the cat out of the bag)

Tj_Justin

Maybe they will put on a 4 door jk body on, and be able to extend there wheelbase within werock rules.

Would any of those mods require the OEM frame from a JK? Its been a while since i read the class rules for the stock mod.

People are really thinking into this thing, some of the thoughts have been way outside the box, but really cool. I especially like the 4 Door JK body to stretch wheelbase.

Fortunately for everyone involved with Kel's Jeep it isn’t that involved.

Keep Guessing. Its going to be really neat when its all done!

:in to see the updates:

Kelly, why are you replacing that beautiful tub--it was almost pristine. :p If you listen closely you can hear the new tub crying a little because the old tub told it what it is in for.

BTW, need any new rockers now that PSC is out of business? If you need anything give me a shout.

TJMagoo
11-05-2008, 08:17 AM
Thanks Zach. My poor old tub - when we lifted the cage out, it was like it let out a sigh LOL It's probably crushed the size of a penny by now :(

Some progress pics of the tub on the frame and the cage in the tub. We have one pillar of the cage not lining up, so we have some work to do there. I'm taking the tub to Line-X next week to get lined inside and out...then it's to the paint shop!

zachv
11-11-2008, 07:45 AM
Kelly, are you guys done with the cage at that point? If not, you may want to add tubes from the B-pillars to the C-pillars and also across the C-pillar. Even if the C-pillar is tied into the frame those bars really help distribute the load throughout the cage.

Be well.

TJMagoo
11-11-2008, 10:52 AM

I don't like the idea of hinged or removable bar on the side in case it gets hit just right, breaks and impales me in the heart. We have made a few changes to the Wrangler SS as well and taking it to River Rock this weekend to try out the mods. Yeah that tub was wrecked pretty bad. 4 years of competition and wheeling will do that. You should've seen when we took the cage out how bad the tub just let go. Yep this is the first tub swap I've done. 2 years ago we swapped teh 4 cylinder for the 4.3L V6...now this. One year I'd like not to spend all winter in the garage.

It's not going to be green anymore. We just got done sanding everything. We have some fiberglass to repair in the hood. Word is, we're taking it to get painted this weekend.

Tub, fenders, armor, and other misc. parts went to the painter yesterday.

Should have it all back the first week of the new year.

Painless provided us with an off-road wiring harness to eliminate all the crap we aren't going to need any more. They also gave us a 6 toogle weather-proof switch box with ignition, so that should be cool too.

Why did we paint it pink you might ask?

In June of 2008, Team 311 driver Kelly Young lost her mother, Marie, to a brief battle with colon and liver cancer. Marie was Team 311’s biggest fan, and a huge fan of rock crawling and motorsports. Since her passing, the team has been looking for ways to show Marie’s appreciation for all that she did while she was with us. An idea was presented that would allow us to remember Marie, and help others with their illness.

Team 311 is changing our Jeep color theme to pink and black, and donating all of the money we raise to the American Cancer Society. We are doing this with the hope that we can play a part in helping to find a cure for something that has affected all of our lives. It is with this hope that “Crawl to Cure Cancer” was born.

Also, keep in mind our first comp is 3 weeks before the first WEROCK. All proceeds from the shirt sales are going to be donated to the American Cancer Society. 4Wheel Drive Hardware is also doing a company match to all donations we bring in at the end of the year. We have black hoodies, that match the t-shirts on the way.

got my t-shirt last week :smokin: and did the walk in denver this weekend..

I just thought I would post this here and give all of you the update of how well we did last year.

I am very pleased to announce how much money we raised this year for Team 311's Crawl to Cure Cancer program. Throughout 2009, we turned in $4,738 to the American Cancer Society. 4Wheel Drive Hardware is matching that AND giving us 100% of the proceeds from our t-shirt sales, which is another $4,895!

So total donation from our team for 2009...$14,371!

Thank you everyone so much for your help and support in this great cause. We couldn't make this happen without our fellow Jeepers helping spread the word!

-Kelly

This winter will be like no other winter in the past. In fact, we just started working on it and it's January LOL

- We will be putting in a new rear axle. Stepping up to a Currie Rock Jock 60 center section with G2 axle components.
- Try to figure out why the stupid transmission still leaks. If we can't figure it out, the tranny is coming out and going to a shop for inspection.
- Regear the front axle
- I sent the Atlas back to Advance to see if they can figure out why that bugger is still so hard to shift in and out of gear. I've had it for 5 years and there are times when I can't even move the shifters.

That's about it besides the normal bolt check and greasing fittings. Even though we didn't start on it until now, I think we're in good shape for the first comp being 4 months away.

If anyone needs any stickers I just had more made. Shoot me a PM with your name and address and how many you want. I usually sell them 2 for $1 with the cash going straight to our donations.

Very cool.

I'm going to need to order another hoodie myself, I ended up loosing mine at KOH somewhere. It will probably turn up the day after my replacement one gets ship to me with my luck. LOL.
