Look what I just got for $60. I had to buy it sight unseen from someone who's never seen it operate but for $60 I'll risk it. It's spotless inside without any bad smells so I'm hoping for the best when I wire it up. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h263/johnsbmw/P0003669.jpg

These things are pretty cool. Switchable between CA and CV and normal/reverse/AC. I think this is one of the first all in one Mig/Tig/Stick machines. 60% at 160A in mig mode. Less for some reason in tig or stick mode and I'd need to find the HF box to use tig mode anyway. If it tests out in stick mode, (insert fingers crossed icon), I'll splurge on a new Tweco whip as it's set up for it already. Oh and I'll come back and gloat a little more.

Even if it doesn't work I'll bet it has more than $60 of copper in it.
Good score!!

I just got done stick welding with it and it worked like a champ. Very nice arc starting and real smooth even on the lowest setting. All the voltages checked out and it was nice of Airco to include a schematic on the inside of the cover. Now I need to find out if this machine really has a Tweco end and see if the mig function functions. If anyone reading this thinks they can ID the end I'll get some nice close up pictures posted.
Thanks, RJ

You don't need HF to tig steel.

And I thought I'd done well paying $100 for an in-op plasma cutter that was easily enough fixed!

Nice score!

I have an older tig welder hi-frequency box that you add to your arc welder so you can weld aluminum. This is an older box that has not been used alot. I don't have the instruction manual with this, but you are looking for a tig welder, you probably can figure it out. Call me at 35-212-9748

No affiliation, not even in the same city, I'm just a chronic Craigslist browser. :)

Sweet, but I think I'll hold off on the HF box until I come up with yet another regulator and the mig whip. I'm not sure if I would ever use this thing as a tig power source as I already have a 240A AC/DC stick machine that would do well. I was pretty amazed at how nicely it welded with a 5/64 rod at it's lowest setting so I can see using it for that. I might set this machine up with .023 and have a dedicated light metal machine. Leave the MM35 for the bigger stuff.
