It has been parked at my neighbors for as long as I can remember. Ive tried knocking on the door to get the scoop, but havent caught anyone home. I took a few pics to get some info on it.

Bad shot, but you can see its a manual tranny of some type. Its got an aftermarket tach as well, so would it be running a 345? Also looks like it was originally orange.

I cant see any major rot anywhere.
Can anybody fill me in on this rig?

Looks to be a 1973 Scout II, that is missing the dash pad, grill headlight chrome trim. You would need to spin the oil pump with a drill before any attempt to started it. You would also need to set the engine at TDC so the hole in the cam will let the oil flow where it needs to go. Looks like it was parked for a reason. Can't tell if the tires have air or not.

I would leave it right there in the weeds....

1973 I think? Maybe '74. Dana 30 front, probably a T90 3 speed tranny.

Hell, it's in better shape than the 1980 I started with.... but then again, I'm a glutton for punishment and there are few that I would wish that amount of work on.

so how long have you been neighbors with this person, if it has been there as long as you can remember it seems like you have been there awhile. kinda weird not to meet your neighbors.

Well its not technically my neighbor, more like around the corner in my moms neighborhood...
No air in the tires. All 4 look original & are pretty cracked.
Right around $200 is what I was thinking. Im not looking for a full resto project, just something to get on the road by next summer in fair to middling condition & have some fun in.
Gonna go knock on the door again tonight.

Well tried knocking again with no joy.
I did however run into the neighbor lady who said that it has been sitting there for about 12 years...
Im getting ready to go back to work, but chances are it will still be there when I get home

I got mine from a around the corner down the street neigbor and it ran is stock form for 3 years after the usual replacement/rebuild stuff. hell I just changed the oil and put a battery and it cranked over and it kinda ran after sitting for at least 5 years. Id say do it, expecially if your looking to get a rig for bad weather or learnig how to build for cheap.

those motor mounts look like it has a 4 banger, eeeeeewww

Talked to the guy tonight. He wants to build it but doesnt have a garage, so he is going to think about it. If its really been sitting for that long then Im sure he will come around.
For the record its a 304 w/ 4 speed
