There is a Sheriff ticketing any modified 4x4 at the ORV park. No mudflaps, home made bumpers, mud on your lights, he will give you a ticket.

Last weekend he had people lined up waiting for tickets road block style. Its getting out of hand up there. Tow your junk or dont go. If you do tow make sure your tow rig is legit. He tried to tell me my lowered chev tow rig needed mud flaps.

Is he ticketing you for being in the ORV area? Like it is a highway, or just on your way in or out? Also where is this? Since when are homemade bumpers illegal?

Evans Creek is by Mt. Rainier. There is a parking lot at the entrance to the ORV area where the Sheriff sits and writes tickets. The parking lot is the boundry to the ORV area, and where two 4x4 trails start. So if you trailer your 4x4 up, unload it in the parking lot and head to a trail, he can write you a ticket for not being street legal. Bumpers are supposed to be 4.5" wide and as wide as the wheel track. And 24" max off the ground for a vehicle up to 4500lbs. The Forest Service is in the process of redesignating this parking lot as part of the ORV system, but in the mean time, this one Sheriff is giving tickets to almost everyone he sees up there. www.nw-wheelers.com is a local chatroom that talks more about it.

I was up there two weekends ago and had the same problems. In fact another sheriff at the cheveron warned me that "today is ticket day" I asked what made it ticket day, and he replied " the dick head deputy on duty will write you a ticket for anything and everything, so watch out". Honestley the trails there are not worth the hassle I get from the cops. I wont be going there anymore untill I have a tow rig or it gets better there.
