I have a pretty stock landcruiser. How far is this from L.A.?

The stock part is fine there's nothing that crazy there but coming from LA i dont know if it's worth it .. i mean if your in La Mirada or Norwalk i would say maybe but if your more than 30miles from South Orange County (5freeway and El Toro) then it's probably not worth the trip...... Just my opinion.

Well, Holy Jim Trail is not very long 5 miles i think all the way to the end but there's other trails that lead over 4,000ft up so it just depends what everyone wants to do i guess.

Sounds cool and I agree with the "not worth it" if yer drivin forever to get there.

Now if it was raining, I'd change that to somewhat worth it:)

Irvine guy, you know the trail to the top is closed,right? Unless something has chaned recently, wich would be kool. You can only go from Los Pinos camp to the trail that takes you down to Indian Truck trail/ 15 fwy. I was up that way about a month ago, and the gates to the towers were closed. Last I heard the gates @ Silverado were still shut, too. Sucks. I like the pic's you displayed, where is that trail at? L8R, see you in the dirt.

I work about 10min from the trails and some customers told me it was open BUT i know about 2 months ago i went up and they were closed so i dont know for sure.. The trails i got the pics from are at Holy Jim, about 1/4 mile in and all the way to the right it's a small area but fun when your in the area. A about 3-4 weeks ago from holy jim one of the gates were open to the fire roads and we got to the top .. So it's really hit or miss.

It is a shity system, but yes. In the early years of it they did. Now its all just AWD. The power split is 60front/40rear. I can climb hills better in reverse...

Compared to what everyone else on here owns, mine is as useful as a focus. I will say this though, it has proven itself quite well at times. If I could get some better tires, a little more ground clearence and something to protect the oil pan I would be able to conquer most everything in Holy jim.

Well bring it tomorrow and join in the fun .. i'm sure it'll do just fine.

I might be able to make it tomorrow, I have a shit ton of work to do so it depends on how much I get done tonight.

I think the Silverado gate will be open on 11-11-08. You should be able to get to the towers then.

I remember there bein some killer mud on the right side of the trail as ya head in off the road - when it rains that is.

I have seen Sheriffs give people tickets for bein over the berm though.

I'm up for a Santiago run one of these days.
