How many of ya'll one a in-cab fuel pressure gauge. Ive got a about 75,000 on my second liftpump and inject pump. Its bugging me that its going to going out on a trip. I know the computer should tell if pressure get low. But sames like that alot of folks still burn them up.

Im thinking about a big hose kit and a in-cab pressure gauge. Do they make a eletric one so i can just run wires into the cab.

bd makes a low fuel press. light kit. or autometer makes a gauge

Another option for you would be a pressure switch that would turn a light on if the pressure dropped too low. That way you wouldn't have to add a gauge to your truck if you didn't want to.

Once upon a time I was told that there was actually a kit from Cummins to do this. I haven't ever looked for it however...

EDIT: I got beat to it!

Don't do an idiot light, install a gauge. A gauge can give you more warning on a lift pump failure than an idiot light. There are quite a few different options from fully plumbed-in mechanical gauges to electrical. I'm running a set of Westach electrical gauges.

While you're in doing that, think about adding gauges for EGT and boost. Your dash gauge is likely lying to you about oil pressure as well. And if you've got an automatic transmission, add a temp gauge for that.

Just seams like the fuel gauges most guys are running arent lasting that long. And 20 to 30psi aint shit. On a pressure gauge.

Id like to get a:
Fuel
Tranny temp
Oil pressure

No need for boost or egt's. Im only run a 65hp chip. Im planing on a single 5" stack with stock piping and maybe a set of 50hp injectors here soon.

4 years and a hundred thousand miles on my Westach set.

You're chipped? You *DO* need an EGT gauge at least.

I recomend the Isspro gauges. I bought the pillar and gauges from Piers diesel research. You would swear it came from the factory that way. They match the second gen dash perfectly. Piers sold me the blue covers for the bulbs so even at night they match perfectly.

This is the gauge I bought for my '01 CTD. It uses that useless little cubby hole by the radio to mount the gauge:

Rather than connect it to to the VP44 I bought this replacement fuel filter lid from Geno's:

Ummmm -- you need an EGT first. As soon as you get one installed -- go find a big hill, hook up your trailer -- put your foot to the floor and watch the EGT's climb untill you realize that you probably need to get out of the throttle... What you don't know will hurt you in this case.

The FIRST thing you need is boost and EGT gauges, especially since you're running a chip.
