: What color??????????
Tarbaby 10-17-2008, 04:54 PM I know this is a stupid newbie post, but with the forum being absolutley dead for the last few days I figure it would be alright. So I've been getting ready to paint my side panels and every color is taken. I finally decided to paint it napa blue, I went to slacks and had them mix up some paint( napa blue) after they mixed it the dude showed me what it looked like, it aint napa blue its $187.00 can of smurf blue. So after they mix it you buy it and now I'm gonna have the baddest papa smurf blue rig on the formula toyota series, well maybe not the baddest but definately the bluest.
benttoy 10-17-2008, 05:25 PM There are a few guys that will argue about that:laughing: I guess as long as you don,t put a rainbow on the side you will be OK
ftoy507 10-17-2008, 06:12 PM Sounds good "papa smurf"
You may be surprised how it sprays out. It amy be closer than you think.

I really wanted to paint the rig orange but someone had already taken it.
mtbrjon 10-17-2008, 09:26 PM I thought about hammered silver cage and blue panels. Black on the cage is just easier to keep up with in parts of the country where rust is such a factor.
Ricks72ntx 10-17-2008, 09:38 PM I went with black cage and dune beige camo for the side panels with some rust mixed in. Hate living on the coast at times.
Jeep07 10-18-2008, 07:11 AM getting somebody to print wraps for the panels cost me less than your paint and it holds up well. Hammered Silver works great for tubing etc.
mtbrjon 10-18-2008, 08:43 AM Could you use Lexan and get the wraps printed "negative?" and put them on the inside of the panel?
chvyhs 10-18-2008, 12:16 PM I was thinking about changing out my black side panels for some polished alumimun panels.

I know all about the rust factor. Even just a summer wheeling up here turns any bare metal to rust :(
Tarbaby 10-18-2008, 03:17 PM Yeah I painted the cage hammered black and going with the "super papa smurf blue.

my wraps guy said he could not do the inside??
Have you ever seen this?
Mine held up fine. But, its only a matter of time.

What?
My wraps were around $500. This did include lexan cut to fit, wrapped, and installed.
Matt T 10-18-2008, 08:51 PM Who pays $187 for paint? You were just bitchin about paying $100 for the steel. I guess since the panels look so good, they deserve some high dollar paint.
Mr Stubs 10-18-2008, 09:42 PM You should have made it a Navy rig and painted the tube yellow.
chvyhs 10-18-2008, 09:56 PM Yeah diamond plate.:D
No, diamond plate won't slide on the rocks as well as the polished stuff. I'm using diamond plate on the rear panel and the bed side. It's looking pretty good so far. I'll post some pics as soon as I'm done.

I cut the panels out of alum and did the design in photoshop and took it to a print shop. Cost me $100 to get both sides printed in full color UV protection and they applied the wraps to the panels.

Damn you just read my mind, and since I happen to now a guy who bought way to much smurf blue I bet I can get a good deal on some right now.
