Have a 96 SLX and i was testing the TPS. The book says 5 volts but i get 10 volts. Books says that it must be the wiring or ECM. Well, i can't find a ECM for the truck yet and was wondering if this sounds about right. Also makes me wonder if the shifting issues i've been having (4L30E automatic trans) is simply related to the ECM, since the trans is completely controlled by the ECM. I already cleaned out the Trans shift sensor as well. Anyone have any ideas, or if i can test the ECM. or anything.

Unfortunately not, the TPS is not adjustable. But i can test this with or with out the TPS plugged in. Which tells me, that the ECM is putting out the wrong voltage. Is the 96' ACURA SLX ECM and the 96' Trooper ECM the same? Maybe i can swap the two, problem is that the ECM is hard to find. Most of the time you have to send it in somewhere and have it rebuilt. My 88' trooper TPS is adjustable, and easy to do. First gear works better now that i adjusted it.

The Trooper ECM should be the same. SLX was just a rebadged Trooper.

So are you getting 10 volts on the sense wire or the ref wire???The Passport/rodeos were known to have bad underhood wiring harnesses, that caused all kinds of weird running issues!!!
Try checking the voltage and pulling on the harness(on the drivers side fender....) and see if the voltage changes......if it does, likely bad harness!!!
Also if you have a factory ETM you can go check your ref/sense at the ecm.
