I put the hardtop on the Scout :shaking:

I bought a STC Fasttrac 5 years ago, but after having it for some time, I realized I wasted my cash. It came off in the spring and wasn't put back on until the fall. Leaked cold air all winter. Ran the Scout topless all summer. Now I have to insulate the top and put the side panels back on. I need to make a winch system for the roof of the shop to make it easier next time. My engine hoist was a big help :D

Went to Fugly's place for a cookout, bonfire and hayrides. He got his old Farmall stuck in the mud back in his woods. Had take his Scout back in the woods to extract the tractor. That was entertaining.

Sold a T19 wide ratio and a Scout D300 to one of the guys at the cookout. That really helped offset the cost of the ARB I ordered the other day.

You know those whirlygigs don't fly, they beat the air into submission. What course are you there for? I'm guessing UH-60 related based on the screen name.

Holy crap!! The world must be spinning backwards.

I worked on my bathroom build all weekend. I still hate sheetrock. But did manage to find some time to bolt this on:

http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/5615/dscn0708vq4.jpg

With a little welding and a few more bolts I had this installed:

http://ihsto.org/ihonly/ram1.JPG

A few hoses and some fluid and 20 minutes of air bleeding and I was turning my 5psi Swampers in the garage with one hand! :D :smokin: :D NICE!

mostly worked on the house - the usual..

Wrapping up a new front entry - I sanded and sealed the hardwood, put shelves in the closed and got the trim/baseboard (haven't got it down yet). It's all new pretty much from the opening you see on the right. So nice not to come into the house and have a wall 3' in front of you to go right or left at. Also did some cabinetry work etc.

As for the scout I got the exhaust back on (with a new connection welded in), bolted in the rear axle, found body mounts, ordered spring bushings, and I guess that is it. Pluggin away..

My partent are moving out to the property for a year while they start building on thiers.

I am and have been busting my hump on getting a place ready for them, remodeling my living room, and building my FIL's 51 Willies. I'm trading my FIL work on his Jeep for him working on my remodel so it works out. I just hate working all weekend and none of it is on my Scout :mad3:.

I'm sick of remodeling. After this is done I have 1 more bathroom remodel, linoneum in the kitchen then fawk this house sheet for a couple years :mad3::mad3:

O yeah I put on 8 more lugnuts and my front wheel spacers for the Scout...woop de do :grinpimp:

I spent 1.5 hours under my gooseneck with the 9" grinder removing what was left of the old spring hangers - I should've broken out the plasma for a second go 'round but didn't.

At least it's done and the old axles / springs / hangers are out from under the trailer.

Now to hang the new stuff..

Had to swap pulleys, reservoirs, & started to fab up the cooler....
It was slow going because I was sick mid-week & I'm still recovering.

Oh, & I had a 75 Honda 400F for 10+ years.
Sold it 3-4 years ago to pay for more Scout parts.

I almost miss the Army some days. I large part of it is that part of the Air Force time was National Guard and that pseudo military thing just sucks. I keep finding myself saying "If only we had a real mission then it would be different".

I hear ya man just hang in there. When you get out you can get paid more to take tourists to idiotic places and screw off more then work:flipoff2:

Sat. cleaned up the garage.:p
Sun We did some wheeling, nothing hard core, logging roads and used to be logging roads:flipoff2: now more like motorcycle trails. We were on the hunt for firewood, found some fire piles with lots of cedar logs. Made two runs back down to my dads place. I store it there along with the big black ants until it's needed. It's all covered so it will stay dry. The best part is now that I know where to go, we can bring the dump trailer next time and get a couple cords.

Edit.. 3 dirt bikes, no street bikes anymore as I would be dead by now!!

In 6 years you will regret it.
Even 40% of your base pay for the rest of your life and free medical is worth the ass pain now.
Not to mention the new GI BIll coming out next Aug that will be transferable to your family.
IMHO.

Each person has thier own reasons.

Chops's rig looks a little hack, but I would suspect its a work in progress. Needs more cage work in the back to tie it together.

Yours however isn't bad, clean, basic with some good upgrades. Not bad :smokin:

Hey, I have scout related news :D

Picked up a set of 3/4 ton axles of a k30 for the scout! Really excited about slapping them on, but not excited about figuring out the steering conversion from a chev full width 44 to an IH steering box... Someone should come do it for me cause I'm lazy :flipoff2:

And put on a hardtop.

The End

Those didn't come out of a K30. K30 = 1-ton and would've had a D60 front. More likely they are from a K20 (since you said 3/4 ton).

It would be better (stronger) if you had a tube running from the very back up to the back of the B pillar (behind your head). Basically, triangles are stronger than squares. On the other hand, yours moves under its own power and mine doesn't.

Yep. It was perfect for the traffic & parking in SF.

It had racing pipe, Barnett clutch & larger rear sprocket =lower gearing.

My buddy had an 89 GXR1100, I could keep up with him off the line & in traffic provided it was all under 50mph.
