I just got the body panels back from the paint shop and they look great (dark, dark maroon). I have been prepping the frame for the 300 tdi (cut off motor mounts, grinding and painting), and well as a few other "secret" mods to be shown later.

Also prepping the shock mounts for the Bilstein 7100's which should be here on Friday (along with the custom steering column). I am gonna run the 14" travel front and rear with the 250/something valving (which I can change later if they are too soft or stiff). The rod ends on the 7100's are for 1/2" hardware and my Desert Rover rear upper mounts have a 5/8" shank, so I am cutting those off and using some shouldered 1/2" grade 8 bolts welded to the mounts.

Should be picking up the 300 Tdi this weekend along with an R380, clutch pedal and cylinders, and all the assorted other stuff. Then I have about 3 weeks to get the thing together in time for some other fab work up in Dallas before the Nat. Rally.

Probably the 275/78 valving. There are some common valving specs that Bilstein uses. This is one and the others are 360/80 for firmer and 180/75 for softer. One thing to note is that I once ran the 275/78 valving and it controlled the spring bounce for about a month and then lost some of the effective valving and they ended up being too soft. Not sure why this happened, but while they will revalve them for free within the first month, I would definate pay close attention to this. I am now running a custom valve stack (345/135). If you rake the front shocks forward a lot and need a stiffer valving this may be a good referene number.

Look forward to seeing pictures. And what is this top secret crap???........LOL....had to raz z you a bit.

On pace!? I thought I was behind! I don't feel so bad now!

For me it's down to:

Mounting the front coil-overs (friday)
Ordering custom break lines on all corners
Fuel lines
Fuel pump
Hydro lines/mount orbital and shaft
Mount my Lee PS pump and pully
Body work/paint
Roll cage

Yea...That's all...I hope I make it.
