Widened each side by 5" so that i could put an 80's ford truck 2-core in there, or whatever I choose. With this method I have to move the frame side body mounts out the same 5", and up 3" because of the body lift. Building plates that weld to the original and go up to do this, later.
On the passenger side I just cut a 5" Z cut out of the inner fender, lots of work. This way works MUCH better.
start by burning or cutting out stock spot welds, and removing the bolt. This lets the core mount separate.

Slit the top of the core mount so that can bend in so that it clears the bolt hole for the upper radiator mount cross piece. It also has to be bent in to clear the cross piece

tack it with the wire speed on 10 because you smaked it when you turned the welder on.

Measure from the flange surface back how much you want to widen, in my case 5", then cut it there with a chop saw. Then test fit.

Tack and trim excess.
