Got the Mog bug... Found a sweet deal on a cherry Swiss 404 s .

I live in the snow though and hate to leave such a nice rig outside all winter - will it fit in a standard size garage?

Anyone have the dimensions (mainly the HEIGHT)

THANKS!

It will never fit. The best thing for you to do is to PM me the details of this sweet deal and contact info so I can bring this 404 home and give it the lodging and care it requires. :D

Seriously though, I got my 404 in rough shape with the canvas roof removed. If the roof was on it would never fit in my garage. In fact, I had to fold the windshield down to get it in. If I recall correctly my garage door opening is around 7ft tall.

Yep, windshield down, they will fit in a garage.

My 404 radio truck is over 9ft tall.. not a chance in hell of fitting in my garage.

It won't fit unless you remove everything tall. Most Swiss Mogs were shipped in containers from Europe and in order to do that the front canvas support had to be cut off and rewelded upon arrival. Everything else is removable. If you cut that support it will probably fit.

What exactly is a good deal if you don't mind sharing. I bought a '63 Swiss 404 and love it ($7000).

there is no way a standard swiss model will fit in a garage. Like he said the front canvas bracket is way to tall to fit. IF you cut it off it will fit then.

Get yourself 4 extra rims. Then go to a tire shop and buy 4 old low profile tires for a 20" rim. Mount them up and when you want to put it in the garage swap out the regular tires for the low profiles.

It's the Swiss 404 s - Troop carrier and the guy wants $5,000 and that is probably negotiable...

It has 31,000 miles on it.

I would probably yank the REAR canvass top off and convert it to a "pickup" style bed...

I live in the snow and would like to use it on those "NASTY" days when the city gets behind on snow removal... Some days 2-3 feet of fresh snow overnight!

Would it be bad to leave it outside in the winter? Do they start okay in the cold? (by cold I mean 5-10* f)?

How much of PITA is it to fold the front windshield??? Is this required to get it in the garage, or just removal of front bed canvass support?

A Mog404 will start at temperatures as low as -60 degrees Celcius.
That is if you use the Swingfire to preheat the cooling system and the batteries. It can even be used as a "hot air blower" too thaw the brakes if frozen. So the largest concern about parking outdoors would be rust!
Find a set of wheels for a 411 they are 18" rims and 750 tires..

Its not that bad to fold the front window down maybe 5-10 minutes?

The hard part is that with the Swiss 404 the front canvas is on a sturdy tube frame while the German version 404 has a top that folds down.

I have had my Mog in my standard garage with the windshield up and no roof.
