Ok, I swapped in a tilt-wheel column w/ intermittent wipers out of an '85 into an '85. The wipers work, but not intermittently. Looking at my Chilton's, it shows a wiper control relay in the passenger kick panel. There is not one there on my donor truck. Where else would/could it be? How can I get my wipers to work correctly? Also, where is the fan speed-control resistor card located? Thanks, kyle

Did the intermittent wipers work on the donor truck before you pulled the colum ? I have swaped in tilt colums and had the intermittent wipers work and I only swaped in the colum. 87 colum to 85 truck. And the 85 did not have intermittent wipers before.

No way to tell, most everything has already been stripped out of the donor. I have low, and high speeds, and they move on the inter. setting, but only one speed, no variation.

The fan speed resistor is located behind the glove box. You don't have to remve it, just stick your head under there. I think it has a plug w/ like 5 wires and a single screw holding it in place.

i did this swap on my 83, not sure how similar they are, but i did find the relay to be on the passenger kickpanel on the donor truck, originally there was a plug with a simple jumper wire, but that was removed and the relay stuck in. don't know if this helps yah..........

So if I wanted to swap int wipers, gotta do the whole column? Not just the "stalk"?

as far as i know you just have to replace the combo switch in the column, the wiring harnesses both seem to contain the necessary wiring, and then change the relay. I actually switched the column but i don't think there's anymore to it than the combo switch, and relay.

You need to install the wiper relay for the intermentant wipers. You will have the harness for the relay, but you won't have the relay or the pigtail. It's located behind the ECU under the passanger side kick panel. The relay is the green box in the pic. You will also need the wire pigtrail shown in the second pic.

Pappy and bearitbilt, thanks. I'll start looking for one asap. The fan speed resistor, does it fit into a hole in the floorboard? I found one connector w/ 5 wires, and one screw holding it in to the floorboard/firewall. Anyone know the part number to get it replaced? Thanks.

Wanting to do this myself, does anybody got a part number for the relay, or one off a parts truck they'd like to get rid of?
