I haven't posted much in here. Thought I would start. I picked up a 1 ton rear axle for my '62 80 project. I believe it is an Eaton. It came out of a 1972 Chebby 1 ton 4x4. Doesn't leak, turns freely. I will be replacing the drums with disk brakes and I thought I read on here that most 14 bolt parts will swap in. Need to do some checking on that. I also read somewhere (here I think), that Chevy only geared them with 4.13 or 5.38, and some came with Detriot lockers from the factory. I haven't pulled the cover yet, so I am not sure of the ratio or if it is locked.
Some day, I'll post up my build thread here.

I'm still on the hunt for a 3/4 or 1 ton front axle. The swap will commence this spring!

Yes, it's an Eaton HO52/72. You can swap in a 14 bolt Detroit and 14 bolt shafts easily. Factory gear ratios were 4.11, 4.57 and 5.14. Some have factory installed Detroit No-Spin locker.
I have an Eaton here that I got for free and didnt end up using. If you want any parts off of it (axle shafts, bearings, centersection, hubs) let me know and they're yours for the cost of shipping. It is a 4.11 centersection, open. Bearings and brakes are hard to find and expensive for these axles.

I tried to get a tape on it this afternoon. I was solo, so I couldn't get the end of the tape to stay put. Best guess is 65-67".

Nice, I think I'll take you up on that! I'm planning on swapping disk brakes on, just gotta figure out what I need and such. Bearings, shafts, gear and etc would be nice to have though!
I'll send you a pm. Thanks!

I'm using the same axle and am following this thread.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8831575
I am using GLO brackets instead. I have to grind a bit on the axle to get the brackets to fit right (They are made for a 14b) and I think I will have to shim them 1/16 or 1/8 (I dont remember which) to get the caliper to line up right. I "could" turn the rotor down some to make it work, but I'd rather not.
Also I have to drill out the holes for the studs to use the studs listed. I should have kept one and just bought longer studs that fit the holes I have.

Great info! If you have any pics of the install, would you mind posting (or pm'ing) them to me?
Thanks!
