Just after some advice from you knowledgeable folk out there. Im gonna go look at a pig this weekend - Sprung over, 35" tyres, rust, otherwise stock. Anything I should particularly look for? where do these babies rust? will it be as relaible as my 40 was, just with longer driveshafts?
How much - I know i haven't given much info but i think the guy is after $2000ish (Aust) so half that in $US - good deal?
Thanks for any advice
Where do they rust? - Everywhere! Particularly along the bottom edge of the doors and rear body panels and floor and rockers etc etc.
You are right about the running gear - it's pretty much identical to the 40.
$2000 a good deal? It depends entirely on condition.

They rust badly along the seam where the roof attaches to the body as well.

I've got a friend selling his 1976 FJ55 and I'm seriously considering it. Body is perfect - complete stripping and repaint, in fact the painter guaranteed it and it's back in for some touch up prior to being available. 350, stock tranny/transfer, 33x12.5's on 10" chrome rims, locked rear and maybe front, rearched springs. I've drooled over it for years...and my wife says it outta be my next daily driver. Original blue-white.
He's thinking around $10k. IMO, from what I've been finding and considering, not a bad price. Drop in my TBI motor and it's all set!
