Shackle flip on the rear, longer shackles up front. A zero rate up front and back will give you a 1 inch lift.

You can't do longer shackles on the front springs without dropping the front mount on the springs also. Just adding shackles rotates the axle backward and knocks off the caster setting which leads to very unstable handling.

^^ not to mention hurts the pinion angle since the shackles are on the rear of the springs

Leave it stock, add bigger tires and trim to fit. Being in Illinois it's probably got rust that needs trimming anyway.

Shoulda added a machined zero rate will take care of that

Rotating the axle back would give you more caster. More caster is more stable at high speed. But more caster will also increase your scrub radius making it harder to turn at slow speeds. Take a look at any Mercedes, they have about 12* of caster. When they turn the wheels the wheels look like they are going to fall over.

But yea the pinion angle would bring the suck.

lots of "cheap-tech" for early dodges.
-Consider a pair of takeoff front brackets for the rear flip if you want to make your life easier. Go to the junkyard and look around - there's plenty of different years/makes that fit.
-Front corner of front wheelwell is the first to hit, but rear edge of the front wheelwell is more involved to fix. The rear portion of the inner wheelwell needs to be pie cut and moved back if you want to keep the lower portion of it. If you take the front clip off- check the upper firewall area corners for cracks - they like to crack in that area.

You usually can gain quite a bit of room with an afternoon's worth of sheetmetal work on the front fenders. Use cutoff wheel and/or tin snips then finesse a new lip with hammer and dolly. The "by hand" method is easier (and faster) than using a sawzall, and the end result looks much more professional.

I find the older my Dodge gets - the more Chevy parts it gets.

4" longer front shackles with a brace welded in the middle..I used a peice of 4" square tubing 3/16" i think and ground off the front spring mount rivets and then welded the tubingthen welded the brackkets.. It rode pretty nice on teh street and i towed with it..A shackle flip would work on the rear. I wound up doing that and 63" chevy springs from procomp. swapped the rear spring mounts to teh oposite side and weled all that junk up..I ran this setup for two years on the street and trails.I now have 4" lift springs up front as well for 7" rear and 8" front lift with 39s.I had to trim my front fenders and used 2" duct tape for the template..

Dont forget the steering arm though.I finally went to full hydro.
That pic is the total 8" front lift with 35" groundhawgs.

This is my son's ride.....massive cut on the fenders and 3" body lift. Did a shackle flip in the rear to get rid of the lift blocks.......easily clears 38's...

Lift, shmift. Who needs it? A reciprocating saw, a couple buzz wheels and put the damn tires on. Even with my horribly sagging stock 1/2 ton springs I have plenty of room and will have more when I put the springs out of my '74 W200 under it.
