'85 CJ7 on ebay. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___1985-Jeep-CJ-7-Renegade-w-84-Original-Miles_W0QQitemZ110299772279QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20Truc ksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item110299772279&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C65%3A3%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245)

<tech question for post validity>
Would it even still run? There's no way it hasn't just been sitting in a garage for the last 23 years.

If that thing only has 84 miles, why does it not have the original oil filter?

Yeah and why doesn't it have the same original 23 year old oil in it too?!?!?! :shaking:

I mean seriously??? Oils supposed to be changed on average....3 months or so or every 3000 miles. If that motor has that low of miles theres fine metal bits in the oil filter because that motors not even broken in yet and everything is still seating itself. Hell hes supposed to do another oil change at 500 miles yet.

Oh and he is smoking the pipe, yeah its a nice jeep, I don't think it will hit the 10k mark though

Hmmm, bet he dug it out of a barn and restored it, "4.2L Six Engine 100% correct..." makes me think he had some choices of whether it would be or not.

He did a pretty good job, tho'

Probably thinkin' he'll try to get some of his money back at $50K...:D

Click on the VIN, it comes up as an '82 but description says '85.

Also says it has 6 reports, how can a car with 84 miles have 6 reports??

Smells fishy.

I would love to hear the story on this thing. Will be interesting to see what it brings.

Oh and do you think things in the engine compartment would look that good after 20 years, like hoses, belts, and the thing that goes from the air cleaner to the intake on the grill... 20 years of sitting and that shit would be dry rotted away unless it was inside a sealed climate controled storage unit or something.

"How come it says it's an '82 when you click on the VIN?...and why does it have 6 reports? A vehicle with 84 miles on it cant possibly have 6 reports. What are you REALLY trying to sell here?"

Just and FYI Collins Bros Jeep in Texas is selling this Jeep. They also have a Scrambler with 600 original miles. They are a very reputable Jeep CJ house. I do believe it is really 84 miles. They get some of the best Jeeps in the world.

At the same time I dont think it will bring $50K. Maybe $30K.

Yeah, this jeep has been on Collins Brothers web site for about a year now. There was also an article on it in a jeep mag i was looking at, at books-a-million. I think it is legit

I call BS! Nice looking jeep, 50K, give me a break! I too am guessing a
new speedo. Looks a nice restoed jeep that someone is trying to make
a mint on. Did you notice the seller has NEVER sold anything before?

Re-thinking, could this have sat on a Jeep dealership floor for the last 20
years? If it was special, it would not have been too hard for the dealership
to keep it detailed once a month.

It's possible. I know an old dealer in a small town that has some mint cars from the 80's still sitting in his show room. Still asking the sticker price for them.

I bought my jeep from Dennis Collins - the are the best used jeep source around. They also do first rate restorations. If it was restored by them they would say so. I first spoke with them on phone. I traveled from so cal to texas to see their operation I was impressed. Everthing they told me about their jeeps was the same when I saw for my self. Their shop is like going to a jeep show or musem.

The Jeep originated from Overland Park, KS. Below is information I got
about this jeep from a very good source.

That jeep was found in kc by toby from the kc jeep club about a year ago.It was a backup jeep for a mail carrier and he never used it. Toby bought it then resold it to collins brothers in texas. He sold it for 8k I beleive. Then collins polished it up, resealed it and put it up for 50k. I guess it belongs to someone else now.

The story on it is this (abreviated, of course):

Original purchaser special ordered it optioned the way it is. He was a postal delivery worker (AKA Mailman). When he took delivery of it and brought it to work, the boss supposedly flipped and said he couldn't deliver mail in it because it was "too flashy". The guy parks it in his basement and that's where it stayed until recently. It still has the OEM paper stickers under the hood. Everything's OEM, except for the oil, and yes, the oil filter, and of course the battery.

It seems legit enough. I read the artical on it in JRations magazine. The only thing I could never figure out was that if he originally ordered it to deliver mail in, why didn't he order it as right hand drive?

Collins Bothers? I dont give a shit if it was Kaiser corp reincarnated from extinction to sell this Jeep...it isn't worth anywhere near 50g

And as far as options.....that CJ7 is completely bone stock, there isnt anything special about it whatosever. Stock vinel seats, stock 4.2, stock saddlebrown paint (not honey metallic or whatever that yoyo called it), stock pinstriping, stock jeep wheels w/center caps, stock D30/corp 20, stock STOCK STOCK :shaking:

Still awaiting a reply to my question posed to the original seller
