I have a 87 S10 I am turning into a trail toy. Well I just came across a nice deal on a tranny/t-case deal.

auto TH400 trans w/ Dana 20 tcase w/ twinsticks - $250.00

The down fall, Its a AMC tranny. I've looked around and found this and was just wondering if this is all i need to put it behind a SBC.

looking at going with a 350.

If your talking about what motor was on the TH400 it was a AMC 360

Those will be old school lo tech twinsticks. One for 4wd, one for hi lo. Not front in and out while in lo. (most likely)

Doesn't amc have its own bolt pattern? I really don't know much about the AMC stuff...

But a th400--great tranny. But I would run a d300 before a 20....

yes, the AMC pattern is by itself, but the internals will go right into any chevy pattern th400 case.

if you use the bronco gears, you can have a lower low range, cant you? or does that require you use the bronco input too? (31 spline vs 32?)

d'oh!
thought about that for a couple seconds....

the dana 20 input gear is separate from the input shaft, and is splined on, and retained with a nut INSIDE the dana 20 case... so, you could install the gear if the output slines on the adapter match up to the Bronco gear... right?

The only difference between an AMC th400 and a Chevy th400 is the bellhousing bolt pattern. Just swap the guts into a Chev trans and you are done. The adapter between the th400-Dana20 is aluminum and they often crack in two different places, clean it up real nice and inspect it before you put down cash.

This is Tiny. About 7 months old. Not that he himself is tech worthy, however, I rescued him from the local junkyard when he was 7 weeks old, looking for a different gas tank for my truck. Took about 45 minutes to catch him, and when I did, the offending fingers holding him got the shit bitten out of them.:mad3::D
