You do not need a bellhousing for an auto. You better put your flame suit on.

Um....well..theres a big piece missing from my tranny then...because theres nothing covering the flywheel. Isn't that where the "bellhousing" goes? Between the tranny and the engine block. Theres bolt holes for some kind of cover. I thought thats what the "bellhousing" is..or is it just a "cover"? Flame suit is on.

A TH350 does not have a fly wheel it has a flexplate that the torque converter bolts to. Are you talking about the inspection cover/dust shield over the torque converter?

I think you are refering to the inspection plate on the bottom? If so hit the junkyard. Car and early truck ones are tin...not all of the bolt paterns are the same so scope yours out first. Some trucks had a aluminum one that has supports that go to the engine block. These are nice and they help keep the bellhousing from cracking (it happens but is not a big deal on the TH350, the TH400 is prone to it). I like the tin ones cause the won't crack if ya bash 'em....course if you hit that the pan is in trouble <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

For all you flamemasters out there....A TH350 canhave a seperate bellhousing. They make this slick deal where you grind off the cast housing and bolt a steel, full circle, scatter sheild, SFI aproved bellhousing to the pump bolts.

Not common out there but hot rod guys seem to like them.
