i started workin on a 2001 grand cheerokee and was tryin to save my friend some money the rear gears for he had the pass side axle seal give way and roasted the 3.55 gear set, i was under the impression that all 35s were the same for i have an 89 model with 3.55s also and was hoping we could just use my gear set in his. we already got the master install kit and when i got his apart i noticed that the ring gear bolt are a smaller size on the 89 than the 01. everything else comes out the same and even the master kit has the new small ring gear bolts in it so i was wondering if i could just put the whole limited slip carrier out of the 89 model in the newer 01 model. when did they do this minor change on size of bolts? The master install kit is from motive gear so i figured everything would be right which it is just not the bolts.:shaking:

The level of SUCK stayed about the same, but that's all I'm really sure about.

they're non c clip in a YJ in 89. I always assumed they were the same for cherokees of that year model too

well i do know that the 89 i have with limited slip is not a c clip for you unbolt the 4 bolts on the brake drum to remove a plate then the axle slides out and the 01 grand cheerokee is the exact same but it has an open carrier. I know 35s suck but this isnt a wheeling rig.
