: AK feed/fire problems

Took the new welded AK with me wheeling this weekend to see how it performed.

shoots nice and straight, when it fires. very comfortable too.

i didn't even think about it untill i was inspecting it on the ride home, but there was NO oil in the thing at all. I never lubed it after the duracoat dried. I'm thinking this may be the issue, but thought i;d post up just in case.

it'll chamber and fire 2 rounds, then chamber the 3rd. but no fire. if you eject the 3rd round and cycle the 4th, same thing again. 4th and 5th will fire, 6th will chamber, then no fire.

it feels like the hammer is just not getting cocked. when you pull the trigger on that 3rd chambered round.. there is nothing. but i cant for the life of me see how it could chamber the round, and not cock the hammer?

everything cycles and catches like it should with no magazine in it. didnt feel like inserting the mag and fucking with it while on the road. to tired to mess with it when we got home.

any ideas?

Kinda sounds like hammer follow.

When that happens, the disconnector will not grab hammer when the bolt cycles.

Check your trigger group, did you put the spring into the disconnector? Are the hammer spring legs binding up the disconnector at all?

Is it a Nodak Spud receiver with a G2 trigger group in it?

ya know.. i bet thats it.. i dunno if the spring is in there or not.

the hammer is defiantly not engaging the disconnecter on that 3rd round.

i just couldn't get it to duplicate that when hand cycling.

I'll take it apart sometime this week and see if that spring is in there.... I'm almost positive i forgot it.

Definitely going to agree with the hammer-follow diagnosis. And you'll never get it to happen by hand. Not enough bolt speed.

If the spring turns out to *not* be missing, shoot it without the dustcover installed, and you'll be able to see what the hammer is doing.
