I found a ford 9" full floater 8 lug at a wrecking yard today.
Can it be converted to a 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern very easy
and are they 31 or 35 spline?
Are you SURE that you didn't just find an EATON rear axle?.... Ford 9" eight lug full floaters are NOT a stock axle...
As for it being converted to five lug..... it's easy to check...
1. is there enough room in the center opening of your five lug rims to fit over the full float hub?
2. is the full float hub wheel flange going to be adaptable to re-drilling... ie: is there going to be a flat area on the back after you get done turning off all the factory wheel stud bosses....

Here's a quick check, does it way like 5 tons? It's an Eaton, no such thing as a Ford 9" Full floater unless someone made one, and I hope it wouldn't end up in a junkyard, the Eaton axle also has a removable rear cover, in addition to the 9" like center section.

It's not an eaton, there is an eaton in the same pile. It is definitely
a ford 9",I'm running one in my CJ. I have never seen a factory FF
thats what caught my attention. It is about 67'' wms to wms and
looks like it was built that way. It doesn't look like aftermarket parts or a dana ff added on.

Heh... does it matter if you need it? NO
But the damn think, rip off the junk yard and turn around and sell it for its true value. Shouldn't even be a discussion.

LOL... Don't need a 9". Already have a waggie trussed 20. Next step up from that for me would be a shaved D60.
A 9" would be too much of a side grade to justify the cost of narrowing it etc. ;)
Seriously though... if its truley a 9" and you can take it for cheap from the yard. how much would people here pay for a full width 9" full floating axle you think? ;)

somebody just put FF hubs on a 9" housing. Probably 35 spline since the 30 spline Dana and 14 bolt axles arent available in a 9" carrier.
Or someone could of had some 28 or 31 spline FF axles made :rainbow:

Could be a racecar 9 inch. They had some custom ones that are FF.

I've never seen or heard of a factory 9" FF but then again Ford has been known to put some strange stuff in their trucks from time to time. Like a 5 lug Dana 60 in a few F150's
