Info: flywheel bolts leaked oil onto clutch. (my only scout mistake when i dropped in the 345 from the previous 266)

this clutch/t-18/d20 twin stick will be behind a 392IH.

Now should i see about haveing it remaned or buy new?? I know a clutch is important as in VERY!!

I do not have alot of cash. Pony up new and trash the oiled clutch or is it saveble and will be reliable when remaned ?

Any hints from those whom have purchased or had a remaned clutch and from what specific IH vendors to go with or brand??? (fort wayne clutch) is one referenece i see and fairly cheap.

Is this the same clutch type between the 258 and scout v8? http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=713635&highlight=clutches

Oh yeah before the BB search shouts pour out with loving hearts, I'm asking your advice for a built scout.

I had my last one rebuilt by a local automotive 'friction material' specialist.

I dropped off greasy, oily, dirty worn parts and got back machined, cleaned, shinny parts with all new wear parts.

Cost was about the same or less than buying new and I was 100% sure I would get back parts that fit and worked with my truck. And I had a real guarantee - not just shit in a box with a guarantee sticker on the side.

I went to http://www.ottsfrictionsupply.com/

Every big city will have someplace similar and if they have been in business long enough they will have seen enough IH stuff to know what you need.

and this time let all the oil drain from crankshaft holes, even jack the front up and leave it over night. Lower front end. Blow them in with compressed air, then clean holes and bolts thoroughly with brake clean. Use sealer on all bolts, torque down, let dry overnight.

I've had great luck with reman clutch but not presure plates, also have your flywheel surfaced...
