Instead of using a soild piece of metal for my roof I was thinking about cutting individual pieces to weld in between the roof bars. Would this idea be comp legal? Thanks F-toy #111

The rules state you need to weld or bolt solid metal every 12 (or is it 10"?) inches. Expanded metal must be welded at every contact point.

I would think if you honor the spirit of these rules and weld or bolt accordingly, it should be legal.

I'm going solid just to keep some of the rain and snow off.

As long as we're on this discussion, I'm planning on welding tabs every 12" around the perimeter. Do I need to also bolt it to the diagonal bars??

after seeing a few hard rolls to the roof and puncturing the roof, i would definetly recommend a single piece.

X2 plus when you tear up the panel or one or more of the roof bars it will be easier to repair if it's one piece and bolts on.

Yes, bolt it to the crossbars as well.

Yes, bolt it to the crossbars as well.

For strict interpretation of the rules or because it's a good idea to keep the crossbars straighter?

Thanks!

Buckle up!
