I am on the prowl for dana 60's. I was wondering what vehicles, and years I should be looking for. I have to admit that I am cheap, and therefore want to purchase a rig from someone at an inexpensive price...hopefully then parting it out to repay the cost of the D 60's and getting them nearly free...any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the tip. Just looked at a 80 1 Ton...it had the 60 front!
I didn't buy it though, I would like to get a truck that has 60's front and rear....are there any chevy's out there tha have front and rear 60's?
The 80 had a 14 bolt rear, and it just seemed much bigger than a 60...the housing was bigger.

None w/ 60's front and rear that I know of. Most were 14 bolts. Some Dually's had Dana 70's. You could either shave the 14 down to a respectable level, or swap to a 60 rear and sell the 14 bolt. I wish you were closer, I know a guy that has a Ford 60 that will be available soon, and he would proabably swap you for the 14.

And I would swap him if it was the same width...and if he was closer!
Do you know of a Ford or Dodge that would have D 60 front and rear????

78-79 Ford 1 Ton's for sure. Plus the front is the high pinion. Not sure on the mid-80's Fords. Some 3/4 Fords had a 60/60 combo if they were equiped w/ the snow plow package. Have heard that some 3/4 ton extended cabs did too. Not sure of Dodge's either. The one's w/60 fronts that I have seen had 70 rear.
The guy I know has a 79 1 Ton Ford that I am getting the front axle and a divorced 205 from another truck. Have Driver's side pumpkin then. No particular reason, other than $. He works for me and is cutting me a good deal. :D

if you really want a 60 rear that bad look in 67-72 3/4 and 1ton pickups, that's where I got mine and spare parts. just make sure that you get 30 or 35 spline version for locker availability, there are 4(?) different spline counts so count carefully. the one you really don't want is the 16 spline coarse. the other that you should look out for as availability of lockers is scarce, is the 32 spline, although there are a few lockers out there. anyways.....just my .02

Some older chevy 2WD P/u had dana 60 rear ends.

shoot dude, just get the 60 and 14 bolt and be done with it, you're making me ill.
Shave the 14 bolt, throw disc brakes on it and a detroit, it's as strong or stronger than the 60... and if weight and size are real issues, why are you screwin' around with a 60 front? :D
Plus, by getting them as a pair, you already have a matching gear ratio... Just my thoughts.
