So I get an email Monday morning from a guy I used to work with who knew I was looking for a D60 --- he says he found one attached to a whole truck. Classic story: behind some guys barn, been parked there over a year by barn owners buddy, barn owners wife says it has to go. I have money in hand, I get truck!

So I went and snatched it up tonight and just got in... It barely and I mean barely fit on my trailer. It was the most over loaded my trailer has ever been, the Dodge pulled it fine the trailer just took a beating. And in backing up (not even close to jack knifing) the trailer to park it I ran the bumper of the towed vehicle into the right rear turn signal of my towing Dodge - go figure the truck on the trailer was as far forward as it would go... OUCH! :shaking:

Behold: 1985 Chevy Crew Cab, 454, Auto, 205, D60 front, D70 rear. :flipoff2::flipoff2:

By the time I off load the running 454 and tranny - a few other parts that some chevy nut might want and scrap the rest I should be money ahead on this one... :smokin: Maybe just enough ahead for srw front hubs, gears and a high steer arm :D:mr-t:

shorten the frame and put a d44/10b back under it and sell it as a project, worth way more.

Use those hubs with hummer wheels... should be a turbo 400/205, very popular...

Until I saw the truck I actually considered tuning it up and wheeling it. Swapping my swampers on it and going to town. :D But despite what it looks like in the pics it is really straight and most of the sheetmetal will sell around here.

I've already got someone that wants the dash - it has all the options and is in great shape. This truck was the shizzle at one point. Power everything...

The mirrors though are going to the scraper.

I have a set of 16" beadlocks I am already attached to... Otherwie I'd consider the H1 wheels.

Crawl under that bitch and take a picture of the 205... specifically the adapter. It's possible it might be a round pattern 205. I'm not real sure when they started using them. Either way, it should be a TH400 and at least that means it's a big bearing bore 205. If you don't want the 205, R290 might be interested... I think he's been searching for one for a while now.

I can't belive you are even considering parting that truck out. Why not get it running and sell the truck and then just get a $300 60 off craigslist?

What would you take for that truck? I've got a 4.56 drw chevy 60 i'm trying to get rid of.

I cant believe your that big of a fucking idiot:shaking: He bought the whole truck for less than what a 60F on craigslist goes for around here. Ugly's right, by the time he pulls his 60, parts out the good stuff, and scraps the rest, he'll have enough money to pay for gears/locker/arm.

Congrats Ugly! Your almost hardcore:flipoff2:

yea but if he trades larboc that whole truck for larbocs 60 than larboc can part the truck out and make a ton of money or have an almost free truck. I can't believe Ugly hasn't already jumped on the deal and offered to pay shipping on the truck and axle:laughing::laughing:

Larboc if you can buy 60's for 300 all day long on CL, than why aren't you?:shaking:

No, not really. My 44 holds up just fine with my set up. 3+ years of hard wheeling with ZERO failures. Ugly on the other hand...Its a good thing he doesnt watch TV cuz he has invested a fair amount of time replacing stock shafts over and over again in his 44. Now, once his 60 is in, he might have time to catch up on some TV:flipoff2:

*If* I upgrade axles it will be 609's or portals. I dont need to add more weight to my set up without getting some serious returns.

I live on the west coast, people have money and there just aren't 'cheap' Dana 60's floating around.

I just performed a non-scientific study on Craigslist and Ebay to prove my point:

Craigslist active listings as of today:

Chevy/Dodge KP 1 @ $800
Ford HP KP 4 @ average of $1662.50
Dodge BJ 1 @ $850
Whole truck 4 @ average of $2362.50 (One doesn’t have a title – and I didn’t count anything over $3000)

Ebay complete auctions that actually sold with shipping available or within 200 miles of my house:

Ford HP 3 @ average of $760 (plus shipping between $300-$500)
Chevy/Dodge KP 3 @ average of $1349.50 (plus shipping between $300-$500)

So you can clearly see that if you can get them for $300 you need to put them on ebay with shipping as an option and sell them. Or drive them to the West Coast and sell them all on CL…

Idiot :flipoff2:

I will take great pride in cutting this truck up -- I might even take a picture of it when I am hacking the rust free frame in half just for you Larboc :D

Laying in the weeds under the truck last night I could only see less than half of the back of the 205 -- but the part I saw was round'ish -- But I also don't know what I am looking at. "The internets" say the round pattern 205's didn't come out until 1986 -- So I may have missed it by a year. But either way it will have the 32 spline input.

he said 85 but it has a 88+ grill and under/over headlights so its at least 85-87.
if it has a 4 spd it should be a round pattern 32 spl, but its not the same as the th400 32spl. but it will just need the input not bored out.

I do, am, have, and resold. I've been wanting a crew cab K30 for along time. Really makes me sad face you are parting it out. you just don't find those with good sheet metal and doors.

Maybe ugly will sell you the whole truck sans axles. Then you could put one of your $300 60's under the front and a 14b someone paid you to take off their hands under the rear and have your dream truck. Put your money where your mouth is. :flipoff2:

I got the title yesterday and it says 1985 -- but I have not checked the title against the VIN # on the truck so it could really be any year :D

When I was a kid we had a 73 burb that I ....uh.....rearranged the front sheet metal on. When it came back from the body shop you would have sworn it was a 78. Whatever grill is on something that old means nothing other than the shit is interchangable.

Over/ under headlights came out in '81. '81-'82 turn signals in bumper, '83 up turn signals behind the grill.

Good score!!:smokin:

The sad news is scrap is falling faster than gas prices. I got $40 a ton for some motor blocks yesterday. :( It was not worth the hassle to go. I tried to give them away, next time I will try harder. I would pull what you really want and sell the rest for project parts.

Oh I'm call the neighborhood city code enforcement folks right now, as some dude is parting out a big ass white truck on his driveway:eek:: :flipoff2:

actually, they guy he got it from has one of those too, nice truck, sans tittle (2wd though). He originally had the idea of merging the two into one uber nice[r] truck but then sold the whole shebang to HOS when he scored himself a nice 4wd, extended cab, dually Cummins :D

the dually's available for the pick'ns, before if goes to the scrapper. I've been thing of snagging the frame to put under a t-lette some day.... just what I need, more crap laying around :D

That is the plan - when the 36" Iroks wear out I will be stepping up to 38" or 40" tires with the same 'lift' I currently have. Just more fender trimming! I just need to be careful and make sure it still fits in my garage - I may need to chop the top and give it that low rider look...

Nice find!!

I'm in need of a front main leaf if/when ya start parting it out.

Wish I knew for sure which hubs would be better under my 800 with H1's as I might just trade ya my SRW hubs for your DRW's.

Is it equipted with the tach dash? Its worth a few bills with the harness attached.
