: ARB Locker questions
bigoltrux77 10-29-2008, 04:34 AM Thinking about running an ARB Locker in my 14bolt SF when I swap it under my Silverado. What are some things I should know about this unit? I was originally going to run a True Trac but came upon an ARB for alot less money :D. Pros and Cons and things to worry about during installation. Any info would help. Thanks!
it is the most expensive locker out there, so I would be leary of one that was cheaper then the junk TruTrac
Badburn 10-29-2008, 07:06 AM I did ARB's front and rear on my blazer, 60/14b The installation was a bit of a process, but do-able, and the selectability is great for turning tight corners. I'd do it again.
HAPPYJOHN 10-29-2008, 07:12 AM I understand there used to be a problem with air leakage at seals inside,
if it's an older unit, I'd be cautious, especially if it's cheap.
bigoltrux77 10-29-2008, 07:18 AM I got direct from ARB
cj8scrambld 10-29-2008, 07:45 AM Less than a Tru-Trac...?????
CtChevy 10-29-2008, 07:48 AM I got direct from ARB
And cheaper then a tru-trac who do you know at arb?
crash 10-29-2008, 07:54 AM Got arb's in both my 60's. My buddy has the very first 14b arb and I have setup a dozen of them. The important factor is to make sure to pre-load the side bearings pretty good..

tacoma73 10-29-2008, 09:22 AM Did everyone miss that it's going in a SEMI-FLOATING 14bolt? I wouldn't bother.

So a semi floating 14 bolt is not stronger than a 10 bolt? I will be running 37s when I get home and i know the 10 bolt wont last long. I found the 14bolt out of the same year model VMAX and from what i have read, its much stronger than a 10 bolt. I know its not a FF, but I dont want to run 8 lug wheels in the back. This is an IFS truck, so im limited until I decide to SAS/SFA it. Am I wrong?

no your right, it is def stronger then the 10bolt and since you want to keep your 6lug wheels it should be fine. just have to worry about the front end running 37s thats all you are goin to eat up ball joints, tierod ends, idler arms and pitman arms.

SAS will come when I put some miles on it. Plus the new body style Silverados are limited on the SAS kits. ORU makes one but for the HD's only. That will be my next goal though. Thanks guys.
