Excellent!

I suggest posting the letter generator link on other off road sites you visit to get it to as many people as possible.

If I wasn't sitting in the parking lot in Pleasant Hill waiting for the DEIS meeting to start with only about 10 minutes of battery power left I'd be writing my letter right now. As soon as I get to a plug I'll send mine.

Thanks Bebe and Kurt!

It's kicking back an e-mail...but do not worry, it's still going through to TNF.

The e-mail that is kicking back is Bebe's that we are using to keep track of the comments

It's all fixed now!!

We have 17 letters Woo Hoo!!! Thank you to all who have taken the time!

We need a few (like 5000K) more please

We could use some LU Leader help, like posting on all sites/forums, emailing the link to your email lists etc.

Thank you.

Our club does a "Founders run" on the TNF each year in celebration of our clubs founding in February of 1967. It is a snow run to the Bowman lake area.

The club received this email..

Founders run canceled:

NO JOKE!!!!!!!

Write a friggin letter people!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.pirate4x4.com/letters/

With that said. I have to admit that I really hate writing letters, as opposed to actually doing work on the trails. I really like to see the fruits of my efforts
, which letters seldom seem to provide. Time will tell.

We know who sent letters in thru the generator, and when the FEIS comes out, it will have the names of everyone who has sent in comments.

Next season, My fat ass will take off my shirt and give a skin to skin hug to everyone on the trail that DID NOT send a letter. :flipoff2::laughing:

Does a person need to be a member of Pirate in order to use the letter generator? There are a few hunting forums I could link to the thread that could generate a few more letters from those outside of the 4wheel community.

Here's an excerpt from a letter that may give some ideas for topics for your own letters you want to send.

"My comments in this letter are directed toward the Fordyce Jeep Trail. These are in order moving from the Eagle Lake side of the trail to the Meadow Lake side or “up trail”. I have broken these down into each section of the trail that have been marked by a “YRS-F1” on alternative number 6. It is my intent to keep these sections of trail on the map. I do believe they serve an important purpose and pose little to no environmental impact as stated in the DEIS.

YRS-F1
Eagle Lakes area
short spur to dispersed camping
No GPS on this location
A section that allow used to get to camping areas with little to no environmental impact. This is a needed part of the trail that allows used to reach a destination spot for camping.

YRS-F1
Just past the log ramp is an existing trail that forks left and ties back into the trail shortly ahead.
Very sustainable surface conditions and provides a turnout to let used pass without going off trail.
GPS (N lat)= 39 21 718 (W long)= 120 32 007

YRS-F1
Carlisle Mine Spur
Short section mostly on hard surface
Good camping destination spot on flat ground. Long enough to get people off the trail for camping.
Approx GPS (N lat)= 39 21 640 (W long)= 120 31 750

YRS-F1
Winch Hill 1 bypass
The Winch Hill #1 bypass is a critical part of the Fordyce Trail. It allows users to get around a harder section of trail as well as an alternative for vehicles that have damaged and are unable to continue on the main section of trail. Without the bypass there is the potential use users becoming stranded.
GPS (N lat)= 39 21 667 (W long)= 120 32 761

YRS-F1
Spur road to lagoon
This is a small spur road leading to a destination camping spot. It is long enough to get vehicles off the main trail and provides a very enjoyable location to camp.
GPS (N lat)= (W long)= No Data

YRS-F1
Committee crossing area
This is an area that I would call a turnout more than anything. It will allow used to get around each other without going off trail. It is mostly rock and provides some camping as well.
GPS (N lat)= 39 22 626 (W long)= 120 30 169"

I would suggest using one of the trail sections you are familiar with and elaborate on it and include reasons you like the section, what it means to your enjoyment of your use of the Fordyce trail and a bit about how the area is enviormentally stable for use. If anyone has GPS coordinates for the ones listed that are missing please share them here. Sending a file with a map section with the area circled was sugested at the DEIS meeting in Pleasant Hill.

Buy the forest and open it up as a free private OHV park.:D

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Keep informed

Keep making noise about public access.

Don't do anything stupid that makes OHV use look bad in the general public's eyes.

Tell others to do the same if they want to keep enjoying the TNF.

Wait a minute. You're in Nagasaki and you sent a letter?

Damn, you just did a lot.

OK all you Californians that actually have a chance to use our forest. If a guy in Japan can send a letter you sure can!!:flipoff2:

No excuses. The internet is a powerful thing.:smokin:
