Well I am in the process of restoring my 77 cj5 from frame up. Installing 4 inch suspension kit that came with 1/2" lift shackles. I am gonna run a 2 inch body lift ( I know I know) so 6 1/2 inches sprung under. My local 4 wheel shop told me to run 1 1/4 extreme HD wheel spacers to give me alittle wider stance than the standard narrow track. I wanna run a 36" tire 12.50-13.50? What size rims should I run? What backspacing? What rims do you recommend? Jeep will see maybe 3000 miles a year road use with a decent amount of heavy trail use ( as much as I can do with out breaking to much). What tires? Can I stay under 1500$ for tires and wheels?

my personal favorite rims are the cragar black soft 8 rims. roughly $50 per rim. i have the 15x10" on my CJs, and 15x8" on my TJ. the 10" rims stick out farther than the 8" even though they have the same backspacing. just get a set of 10" wide rims and call it good.
on a side note: my 37" MT/Rs are 12.50s on the 10" rims. i should have opted for 13.50s.

Why not get a set of wide track axles while you have it apart? I would sooner run less back spacing than run wheel spacers. I had 2.5" BS black spoke wheels on my sami that worked out good. Use 8" width for 12.50s and 10" width for 13.50 and wider.
