View Full Version : Wiring Toy E-locker to ARB switch?

My truck has ARB's front and rear, but I'm going toy on the rear. I'm looking for help with wiring the E-locker to the ARB switch. The ARB harness works on the principle that you must lock the rear axle in order to lock the front, and that's what has me worried. I don't have much electrical experience so any help is appreciated. I'm going to see if I can find a diagram of the toy harness so I can compare it to the ARB diagram.
I built this locker switch, and I'd like to keep it this way...

touch the red MOMO? so that means your coming to reno AND letting me drive the truggy? SWWWEEEET!!!
I'm going to order a harness and guard from inchworm, but I'm trying to see how hard it's going to be to use the ARB switch with the toy e locker harness. I know there's a thread on Dweb about changing the ARB harness so you can lock the front w/o locking the rear first.
oh and got off the phone with Keith a little while ago, parts are going to be here within the next week! :grinpimp:

I used a 12 volt guy switch, if you buy the install kit, you can match the inchworm switch to your arb switch and you should be able to figure it out..

like I said, the ARB harness is made to only lock the front after the rear has been locked, so this has me concerned. I haven't even seen a harness for the E locker so I don't even know what I'm dealing with yet. I'm just looking for input on it, not smart as remarks :flipoff2:

Ditch all that. You can wire those lockers for about $20 and eliminate all those relays and crap. A couple simple two circuit momentary switches and a couple of small lights is all you need. Let the limit switches in the locker be the break. Both my trucks are wire this way and it works perfectly.

I was hoping to keep that switch panel since it's nice and clean. Not to mention that the front axle is staying the same wit the ARB. I was hoping to have the 1st switch for the front, middle switch for the compressor, and last switch for the e-locker.

I followed the wiring diagrams on this page http://carterswebsite.com/4runner/mods/locker/ to wire in my Toy lockers.
You need on/off/on switches for both front and rear and you can get the ARB type of switch in this layout to fit your current switch panel - try searching for 'Carling Switch' on the net to find them. I'll post a pic of my switch panel that is fitted with on/off/on Carling switches that look just like the ARB ones.

so I finally got around to ordering the inchworm harness.
The inchworm kit comes with a 6 connector switch, and the ARB is a 5 connector switch. Here's the wiring diagram that came with the yota kit. Would it be possible to use the ARB switch?
I may just have to install the toggle switch and light on my little switch panel, but I would like to avoid that since it's ugly as fawk!

I can't see the pics (blocked at work) but if it doesn't work out you can buy a Carling switch that is exactly the same functionally as the inchworm toggle but looks the same as the arb. I think the arb swithces are Carlingtech V-Series Contura II and you can spec them out down to the light color and the legend picture. They run about $10-12 for the switch and another $2 for the actuator.
Here's the catalog:

I got similar switches from mouser:

Here;s the accesories if you want to redo your panel:
