Suzuki Simon 10-30-2008, 05:22 AM Hey guys,

I've been given loads of pic's, heres some of the pic’s
Suzuki Simon 10-30-2008, 05:25 AM More pic's
Suzuki Simon 10-30-2008, 05:25 AM few more later on :D

SL2kato 10-30-2008, 03:33 PM I love these little things, theres a guy in town that has one but he wont sell it ands its been sitting in a field for 8 or 9 years :mad3:
quebecsamurai 10-30-2008, 04:43 PM WOW.
Your at least as Zuk crazy as me.
Thumbs up for saving another one.
peewee2 10-31-2008, 01:10 AM Good work, how much time do you have in that body? got any more pics of the green one in the background of your first pic?
Patrol 10-31-2008, 01:40 AM Reminds me of the one I rebuilt with my ex-g/f's son for his b-day back then. Took us 300 hrs in the body alone with sandblasting everything etc.
Nice work ! Those little critters are getting rare nowadays and everyone of them is worth to be rescued.
ajcaine 10-31-2008, 02:24 AM Wow - great build and another UK member too! A friend had one of these, the last I saw of it was 1995 and his had the Fred Flintstone holes in the floor too. Nice one - I'll watch your progress.
Patrol 10-31-2008, 03:27 AM Just found a pic of the day after we finished the restoration:
http://up.picr.de/1460078.jpg
This little goat would climb everywhere:grinpimp:
Suzuki Simon 10-31-2008, 04:10 AM :d
Suzuki Simon 10-31-2008, 04:15 AM I've not done any of the work so far, but its all been done to a very high standard :D
Patrol 10-31-2008, 04:38 AM
So what's the chassis gonna be ?
We onced measured a SWB GQ Patrol and the wheelbase does exactly fit a LWB Samurai:grinpimp: There was a short thought about doing the same with a Samurai tub on a Patrol chassis.
Grind 10-31-2008, 08:59 AM This is badass.
Are they/you going to put bigger, wider axles under it? is that why it was widened?
LJ's have no room inside, two guys are touching shoulders. I'd love to do that to mine
great job saving that little guy. :smokin:
[imwithstupid]....
Nowhere 10-31-2008, 07:07 PM Holy dragslicks room batman!

LittleBlackSambo 11-01-2008, 09:55 AM you should make a suzuki lj version of a hummer h1 hahahah what are they? 7 feet wide inside?
almost... but believe it or not, there is no room inside of them, either!
zuki4x4chick 11-01-2008, 03:25 PM oh ya thats right, because of the 5 foot wide, 3 foot tall tranny tunnel hahahah
Suzuki Simon 11-02-2008, 09:16 AM Here some more pic's

LittleBlackSambo 11-10-2008, 07:29 AM i am amazed at the difference from the beginning to the point you are at- that's not a restoration, it's a resurrection! it's incredible that the rust heap could be restored to such a point. great work, keep the updates coming!

Hi
I have a local suppler called Rally Design they can supply all the brake fittings and stainless steel braided hose from Goodridge.
www.rallydesign.co.uk (http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php)
Euroquip 600 Brake Fittings (http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php?cPath=85_248_249)
Goodridge Hose (http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=85_248_259&products_id=1590)
All the fitting on my LJ were M10 x 1 thread, just make sure you order the correct concave/convex fitting so you get a good seal. It looks like Rally Design can ship outside of the UK if you cant find anywhere locally that can supply you the parts.
Hope that helps :dustin:
vidar 02-18-2009, 11:38 AM Perfect i´ll have look. Just got the sandblaster inside, started blasting the front frame and other rusty places.
Thanks :)
Suzuki Simon 03-14-2009, 10:16 AM Just a little update, iv not had much time to work on the LJ but all the lights are now finished, the wing mirrors and a few other little bits are now on. I've found a company that are going to make and fit the front and rear glass which is a result :D

call it a jeep one more time and I may have to hit the ban button j/k
By the way you know you can cut windshield glass. you might be able to cut down a YJ windsheild to fit
Suzuki Simon 03-14-2009, 03:49 PM call it a jeep one more time and I may have to hit the ban button j/k

Yeah I thought about having a go at doing the glass but if I mess it up I cant weld it back together again lol + I don’t have any of the windscreen rubbers and this company are going to supply a universal one :D
vidar 03-16-2009, 09:44 AM Very nice Simon, im just finishing my own fiberglassfront lj, and im looking to installing lexan or similar, any experiences with this ?
Suzuki Simon 03-16-2009, 09:57 AM Very nice Simon, im just finishing my own fiberglassfront lj, and im looking to installing lexan or similar, any experiences with this ?
Yeah i looked at polycarbonate, but i couldn't use it for the front because it would not pass an MOT so im just going to have them both done in laminated glass
vidar 03-16-2009, 02:25 PM Yes i´ll probably bump into the same issues with the Norwegian mot...
Love the color :) copied it ---->

supazuk94 04-23-2009, 10:45 PM We had a little get together last weekend of all the LJ's in are local club
did i tell you lately i hate you :flipoff2:
I so want an lj
supazuk94 04-23-2009, 10:46 PM I think if Suzuki had made them this wide with the V6 it would have been a better jeep competitor
zukinut 04-24-2009, 05:33 AM I think if Suzuki had made them this wide with the V6 it would have been a better jeep competitor
A better jeep competitor :flipoff2: Look at what we get stock, and look at what they get stock. I personally believe, that we are superior, maybe not in power to weight but in everything else.
Plus no homos drive zuks.
Will
phil_j 04-24-2009, 11:10 AM A better jeep competitor :flipoff2: Look at what we get stock, and look at what they get stock. I personally believe, that we are superior, maybe not in power to weight but in everything else.

Maybe, but on the other hand, competitive sales numbers means longer production runs, and more rigs to build and pilfer. Someone wants to build a jeep? No problem, they made them long before zuks, and they still make them to this day....someone wants to build a zuk? Used to be no problem, and they were cheap too. Now they're more rare, harder to find parts for, and consequently, base price of un-molested and built up rigs has gone WAY up over the last few years. :(
Suzuki Simon 04-26-2009, 02:31 PM Almost finished painting the bumper today
Suzuki Simon 04-26-2009, 02:34 PM Cheers for all the cool comments guys, im really happy with the way the LJ has come out :D
phil_j 04-26-2009, 03:53 PM So now that you've built one and got all the bugs worked out of the process, I'm sure the second one will go much quicker. I'll take one that width, with the front cowl stretched 5", and the rear quarters stretched about 12-15" in length.
Thanks in advance. :grinpimp:
Seriously though, I wish I had the patience (not to mention skill) to take on bodywork of that extent, nevermind have it turn out that clean and straight. Very nice sheet-metal working. thanks for posting the build.
Suzuki Simon 06-09-2009, 08:30 AM Hey guys i've not been on here for ages, though id put up some flex pic's
There not very good one's but ill try and get some more up soon :D
Sno White 07-06-2009, 06:06 PM Hate to be too picky, but I never saw the finished winch install pictures or the fairlead hole in the front bumper. What’s up with that?
Suzuki Simon 07-07-2009, 02:46 AM Hey guys,
Sorry i've not posted any pic's of the winch install yet, iv not had the time to fit it :(

Sno White 07-07-2009, 10:09 AM I have a question for you across the pond'ers in UK. What is the meaning/origin of this phrase "Green Laning"? Looks like mud bogging to me.
MT TUBEKRAFTER 07-07-2009, 11:57 AM I just stumbled across this thread:eek: my first thought was "honey I shrunk the FJ " this is one bad-ass little rig !! nice work, dammit now I want one!! :grinpimp: cheers mate !!:beer:

Hi Sno White,
Green Lane is a type of Highway in the UK its better know as a Byway or BOAT (Byway Open to All Traffic). Byways are an unsurfaced mud track, they can be used by walkers, horse riders and vehicles.
Hope this helps :D
Suzuki Simon 07-14-2009, 03:27 AM Hey guys,
I have made a start on making the front grill wider this week, its going to take a lot of work to make it look right but I think it will finish off the front :D
Suzuki Simon 07-14-2009, 03:30 AM I've done both ends of the grill last night and it fits spot on :smokin:
I'll post up some more pic's once i start to apply the filler :D
prestonlaw 07-14-2009, 04:23 PM Hey - just curious what gauge steel you used when patching your body panels and on your rear wheel wells, 16?
Baratacus 07-16-2009, 08:29 AM Maybe, but on the other hand, competitive sales numbers means longer production runs, and more rigs to build and pilfer. :(
They still make the suzuki samurai..it's just called a Maruti Gypsy now.... MG410 sold in india. Get a 2009 model year brand new one. Shipping to the U.S. must suck a big one but the parts are all compatible with our Samurai... The LJ80 is going to be tough to find stuff for, but so is a Wily.
That grill looks like it's comming along great. You won't even be able to see the patch when it's done.

Hi mate,
Yeah it was around 16 gauge

Have you ever actually taken a look at what it would take to import one? I don't know about Canada's laws, but it's exceedingly challenging in the U.S. to import a vehicle these days, and nearly impossible if it's less than 25 years old. :mad3:
For phil_j's sake, I hope Canada's laws aren't as needlessly restrictive as ours. :shaking:
Baratacus 07-16-2009, 10:07 PM oh there's no way in hell I'd even attempt to order one from India. They cost $15,000 new without trying to ship it. The parts however are still being made and can be ordered from India.
They use the DOHC MPFI 1.3L engine though (beats the 1.6 8V) so engine parts for the SOHC are no longer a production item. They still make parts for them but they'll be phased out eventually.
Here's some more pic's.

I know it was made to wheel, but I just got sick in my stomach seeing this picture. :(
Had been following for a while, and just got caught back up.
O'well, can't keep them clean and pretty for ever.
Besides, after this resurrection, I know it could be fixed, if you choose to do so.
How did the damage occur-- back into something?

I know I was quite upset when it happened but these things happen, I hit a tree :shaking:
Hopefully I’ll get the time to put the dent in a few weeks
siwebb 07-28-2009, 12:55 PM Hi,
I have a pair of new wings and a new front panel for an LJ80 - do you know anyone who may be interested in them?
No reasonable offer refused as I just want to find a home for them.
Feel free to drop me an email.
