I posted a week ago about a bad master cylinder (on my 89 v6 toy)that seems to be the cause of my rear brakes being frozen solid. I finally got around to pulling the mc this afternoon, and when I was siphoning off the brake fluid from the resiviors prior to removing it, I noticed the brake fluid was really dirty, with large rusty looking chunks. Im thinking even if replacing this 30 year old land cruiser mc that I have with the new fj80 one I ordered, I still want to flush the rear brake lines completely. Seeing the dirty fluid had me thinking that my brake freeze could also be contributed to a clogged line. Is it ok to use compressed air to clear a brake line? I figured I could just find some thread adapters to my air hose and let her rip. If not that then what else can be used. It would really suck to replace the hardline all the way back, so id rather try other stuff first.

Hmm... rusty with chunks in it?
If it were me, I'de replace everything. the lines themselves.. y ou coudl probably disconnect them from eveything and blow them out with compressed air.

You can blow them out, but to really make sure thay are clean you need to pressure flush the lines with de-natured alcohol, and then blow them out agian to dry the alcohol

Probably won't help ya since I guess it's all torn apart now, but you need to bring that rig over and use my handy-dandy pressure bleeder. When I got my '87, the brakes weren't quite right, so I used it to blow all the crap out of the lines. Holy cow it was amazing the chunks that came out, the bleeders actually clogged. Then I pressure-flushed about 2 quarts of fluid thru the system till everything ran clear, they work great now. I'm in the process of doing the same on the Cruiser now.

BTW, you won't be needing that IFS steering box anymore, right? Just wanted to make sure. :D

What would I have to do to get you to bring that setup over here? :D Ken I really think Im cursed, someone up there just doesnt want me wheelin. I changed my oil last night and when I started it back up after the engine warmed up, smoke started to come up from the general area of the rear most cylinder on the passenger side. I cant really pin point it, but its not anywhere near where I could have spilt oil that would be burning off. Any thoughts? I hope its not the main seal leaking into the transmission, I think I would just give up, sell everything, and buy a corolla.
