I have an old Jeep and the manufacture date on the tires say they are 10 years old. They are BFG mudders. I aired down to about 8 lbs in the sand over the weekend but they didn't seem to bulge as much as i thought they should. Could it be because the tires are just too old and dry and don't have as much flex?
I was spinning the tires a lot and almost getting stuck. I don't really think that should happen with 8 lbs of pressure.
thanks for your help.

Depends on the tires and depends on the vehicle. What are we talking about? If it's a Cj5, they don't weigh much. Try going even lower on pressure.

Yeah it's a CJ5. The tires are BFG mudders and they are 33"x12.5" and they are load range E.
I do not have bead locks

keep airing down 1 or 2psi makes a big dif in sand.
I ran 6psi on my pro comp mud 33x12.50x15 in the sand. Got around pretty good but I should have gone down to 5.
Oh I have a co2 bottle in case I pop a bead.

I also run 33x12.50 BFG MTS on 10" wheels. At silver Lake sand dunes I will run 6 lbs max and down to 3.5 if Im feeling brave. The tires do spin on the wheels though. It will knock off the wheel weights. Dropping to 6 lbs will make a huge difference.

I bet those load range E tires could support your CJ5 on one tire. It is going to take some serious airing down to get them to flex. I bet they ride rather harsh on the road.

That's good to know. I will probably try and air down more next time. Were you happy at 6 lbs???

I ran my load range C bfg muds at 10 and was happy, your load range E tires could almost support the truck with no valve core try 5 or lower! (I ran my load range c 35" Pitbull Rockers bias and 14"wide at 2psi..) ...sand is a whole nother animal.
