Can someone educate me on what if any Dodge trucks used a passenger side drop 241 transfer case, preferably on with mechanical speedometer drive and fixed output yoke. (I have done some searches, but all the pictures and spec. sheets all seem to be Chevy/GMC stuff)

Thanks Mike D.

There is no dodge ram that uses the 241 as a passenger drop, the 2nd gen dodges use the 241 but its a drivers side drop. There was also no fixed rear output yoke...they were all slip yoke.

Read thru this link, http://www.high-impact.net/transmission_and_gear/Tcase_NP241.htm , might give you some info.:smokin:

Thanks, guy's for some reason, I thought that the early 1988ish Dodge cases were passnager side drop, don't know where I got that from, must have got some bad info, somewhere.

You sure on that? I was under the impression that the late '80s/early '90s 4x4s used the 241 instead of the 208. Those would have been passenger side drop...

*Note that I have not confirmed this though. This is just what I've been told.

I think they were available around 87-88.

I just looked at some of the junkyard listings around here and it is indicating that they had 241s into the '90s.

I dunno? I haven't looked at one yet but would really like to because a buddy of mine could use one too.

Wrong.

The 241 replaced the 208 in mid '87. (Pretty sure, I could be off by a year or so). They were used through '93 in the 1/2 tons, and I believe the gas 3/4 tons as well. Diesels used the 205 through '93. The 241 were fixed yoke, and at least some if not all of them had a mechanical speedo output. The ones I've seen were a combination mechanical/electrical sender.

I'm currently running a 241 from a Ramcharger, it came with the fixed yoke and is passenger drop.

Ok, at least I am not the only one who is confused by what Dodge built in the late 80's early 90's.
Sounds like I need to take the time to scout out what exactly the salvage guy's have, looks like I will need to get an up close and put an eye on one.

Thanks Mike D.

Dodge did indeed use the NP241 from at least '88 to '93 in a passenger side drop application. I have the one out of my '88 Ramcharger sitting outside from where I swapped it with a NP205.

Since we'ere on the topic of Dodge 241s... I don't guess anybody has looked at a 3rd Gen driver drop 241 off the back of a 545RFE? I'm curious of the spline count/shaft diameter for doubler research.

It's in great shape. Chain seems tight, it's got about 90k miles on it. The truck was a security vehicle so it didn't see any 4WD use until it got sold to a private owner. It's too heavy to mess with shipping across the country though, lol.

Oh and to answer the rest of the original poster's questions, my NP241 uses a mechanical speedo drive since the speed sensor is also driven the same way and it does have a fixed rear yoke and typical front flange.

Well I live in a 15 mile radius of you, how much would you ask for it if you were to sell it?
